Winona Kirk - Parks and Recreation Director
Eighteen years living with her parents on their ranch in Montana had taught her how to work hard, but she knew that it wasn't the life she wanted to live. Winona always felt there was more for her in the world than simply mucking stalls and mending fences so she packed her bags and headed to the big city. She enrolled in University and spent the next six years experiencing all that college and big city living had to offer.
During her post graduate study, Winona met a young man, George Kirk, who talked her into a European tour then a wedding and a mortgage. It was all very spur of the moment and young people in love, but Winona didn't care because it was her life. It wasn't exactly fairytale, there were ups and downs, but they had two wonderful, beautiful children together. George Samuel was born six months into their marriage and James Tiberius three years later. Her husband was killed in a plane crash a few months later, leaving her to raise the boys alone.
She returned to school to finish her Masters and eventually landed a job with the Parks and Recreation department. Ten years of diligence and she managed to net the job as Director of P&R. The job kept her from home more and more as her duties increased and somewhere along the line she started to lose touch with her boys. It got to the point where George Samuel had enough of her being gone and ran away. She hasn't seen him since and is only now coming to terms with the fact that he's most likely dead and she will never see him again. Jim, on the other hand, works in the city and she at least gets to see him every so often.
These days she tries to make time for a personal life outside of her work but it's slow going and she's not really enthusiastic about the 'date scene'. She's forty-eight and doesn't have time for flings. But an occasional night out on the town never hurt anyone.
