I went to my first concert yesterday. It was at the Canopy Club in Champaign. The band was a friend of mine's called Goretesque (Gor-tesk). They are a death metal band.
Johnny (the forementioned friend) is the guitarist, Ian is the singer, Andrew is the drummer, and I can't remember the bassist's name (sorry!). Johnny, Andy, and Mr. Bass are all extremely good (Johnny is among the best guitarists I've ever heard). If you can understand Ian's "singing" without already knowing the lyrics, then you are a miracle. The man sings like he's got throat cancer.
But that's not bad. It helps, actually. They rocked. They rocked so hard, Ian got a nose bleed. His reaction was nice. "What is this red liquid coming out of my nose? *tastes it* Hrmm, tastes like blood." *all 10 people in the crowd (no more fuckers came!) goes crazy* This was at the end of their first song, and they played 6 or 7. They finished and we went outside to await our departure. It was raining oh so lightly then but the lighting was still going off. If you havent seen the area around Krannert Center, there are very few trees. That means if there was lighting, there was nothing between us and it. And it sprawled out along the sky. Fucking awesome.
On the ride home, Johnny and Paul (Johnny gave me, Nick Cook, and Paul Sabin rides) had a conversation about the definition and stretching of said definition of evil in today's society. It was interested. Nick, of course, was passed out/asleep.
That was my night. HOW THE HELL WAS YOURS!?
