Spot may be a Screamapillar, but Carl Sagan Sounds like a Pigeon Got Loose in the Apartment

- So we got ourselves a second cat this weekend. We went into the shelter with a plan and promptly abandoned the plan in favor of the new kitteh. We walked by his cage while he was sleeping and first thought he was oh so handsome (silver tabby with tawny points). Then we saw his name was Carl Sagan and were like, "Dude, this cat's name is Carl Sagan! That's weirdly awesome!" But we had to get a specific kind of cat who could put up with Spot, so we kept walking and asked the staff who they thought would be a good match. The staffer told us that she knew of a couple, but Carl Sagan would probably be perfect. It was destiny. He's super cute, and Spot only jumps on him half of the time now. Which is down from all of the time; luckily Carl seems to not be too intimidated by it. This afternoon marked a milestone of both of them napping in the same room without bugging the other and without one of them having to be under something (the couch, the recliner, etc). Boys will be boys.

- Definitely had this thought this weekend: "Derp derp, checking CNN App...Wait, are we at war with Libya?" That's bananas, btw. It's like the government forgot we were already in Iraq and Afghanistan. And that as a nation we have no money. So glad all of our presidents now feel like they can bypass Congress by never officially declaring war on anyone ever. Thanks for that modern precedent, Truman.

- Trying not to go insane as the last dozen or so games of the hockey season take place as the Sabres cling to a playoff position. It's going to really close - the Sabres are basically doing everything right they can to keep themselves in position, but us getting into the postseason will also mean some key teams will have to keep losing. New Jersey will also have to slow their late surge too.

- Listening to a podcast that Hasek did while he was in Buffalo last weekend. Man, this dude still can barely speak English. Though, I suppose since he's been living in Europe and Russia for a few years now so it probably hasn't been a priority. But he's more chatty than he used to be. Some asinine reporter asked if he'd consider coming back to the Sabres; Dom of course said no, even pointed out goaltending is not among the team's problems. I'm sure Ryan is thrilled he won't lose his job to a 46-year-old. Also he led the Russian league in shutouts this year. That, much like the "war" with Libya, is bananas. He is almost 50 and the KHL is nothing to sneeze at. That's no weekend league stuff.

hockey, kitteh
