030 - [Video]

[Sam is sitting on his bed, bundled up in a jacket and looking a little tired. In one hand is a full bottle of vodka. In the other is a lighter. He keeps looking from one hand to the other, mumbling to himself.]

There was something I was supposed to do.

[He flicks the lighter once or twice, looking from the flame to the alcohol and back again.

What? Oh, no. No way. How could I forget a thing like that?

[Because no one is stupid enough to miss the lectures. Ever :|]

And how are you doing today, Sam?

[Sam attends every single one... gritting his teeth all the while.]

I'm just peachy. There's enough vodka to keep most of my extremities warm, so what's there to complain about?

[Russia smiles, patting Sam on the shoulder. NOT. CREEPY. AT ALL.]

That is exactly my point! There is no use being so upset as some are over Wonderland's new government, da? You have all you need here. You are warm, you have food, you have drinks, you have sunflowers and equality and luxuries some can only dream of. There is nothing wrong with wanting such a life for the community, is there?

[Gah, Sam totally didn't shudder at that touch, nope.]

I'm sure people will still find something lacking, though. People always do, after all.

[And Russia didn't totally just start squeezing his shoulder so tightly it might hurt. Nope. He's not really looking at Sam anymore.]

How astute. I can change the world, but it is much harder to change people.

[More teeth gritting, accompanied by a slow shrug of the shoulders in an effort to get the hand off of him.]

Impossible, even. So one might ask, "Why bother trying?"

[Success! The hand falls away. But now he's smiling at Sam again oh god.]

Because success would mean a better world for everyone.

[Thank God for small favors!]

But if people don't want a better world... it's easier to wash your hands of it, isn't it?

[Now he's just leaning closer with that CRAZY GLINT IN HIS EYE AND THE SHADOWS OVER HIS FACE AHHHHHH.]

But that is why I am here. People do not know what they truly want because they are scared of change, da? I make that change happen to make them happy! I make the changes so that they may enjoy a better world!

But, uh, if people are scared of change and you're making changes, don't you think a natural product of what you're doing is - I don't know - scaring the crap out of people?
