I've been sort of hiding out after the whole Alice thing. And no, I don't want to talk about it. I feel like enough of a failure as it is, thanks.

Someone cheer me up by telling me that my mirror got his ass kicked, at the very least.

If anyone wants me, I'll be in the library, doing that whole "futile research" thing that I do so well.

i'm a failure, mirrors are creepy, guilt trippin', alice

You are the second time I've heard of a 'mirror' in reference to a copy. Can you tell me about them?

Everyone on this side has a double on the mirror side, which is where the Queen resides. This double is the complete opposite of the one that exists here (I'm the quiet type, my mirror's loud and obnoxious). They can watch us through the mirrors, but they usually don't bother us unless they get really antsy or until the Queen sends them over here for some reason. And we can't exist on the same side as our mirrors. So if they cross over here, or if we need to go over there, we're essentially switching places.

I hope that made sense. I'd say that I'm not good with explanations, but I'm not feeling particularly good about anything right now.

No, it was a very good one. It sounds rather frightening, and worrying.

I'm sorry to have asked you about something when you're not feeling well.

Yeah, "frightening" and "worrying" are good words for this entire mess.

Don't worry about it. Chances are, I won't be feeling top-notch until I'm back home.

This place is that bad?

It... has its moments, I guess. But that doesn't make up for the way it messes with your mind. Or for how dangerous it is.

Messes with your mind too?

I heard it was controlled by a queen, is she a powerful witch?

Yeah. That's when it hurts the most, to be honest.

No one really knows what the Queen is. Suffice to say that she's not human, but I'm not seeing any obvious signs of witchcraft. I'm guessing a powerful demon or some sort of spiritual leech. But I sort of gave up on my research after things got more and more... personal.

She sounds far beyond Lady Petronella....

This really sucks.

I'll take your word for it.

Once in a while people do seem to be able to find their way back somehow. Maybe the same will happen to you before long.

I do hope so. I don't really like the idea of being stuck here for the rest of my life... ah, no offense of course.

Ha, none taken. I'm not planning on living out the rest of my unnatural life in this hellhole, either.

Maybe you'll get a chance to leave soon?

It's never that easy. Not in my family, anyway.

True, things rarely are so simple.

I'm Sam, by the way. Didn't mean to dump the heavy explanations on you without an introduction.
