I still think the whole Easter holiday is a little ridiculous. No offense to those who celebrate it and take its religious "roots" seriously or anything, but it's sort of hard to buy into the whole Peter Cottontail thing when you understand the pagan origins and all. Still, I hope those of you who are into it had a good one.

Thanks for the egg, ( Read more... )

A year is a long time... But it's not so bad a place to be, sometimes. Are you alright, Sam?

It's not where I should be, so I can't exactly sit back and enjoy a beer or something. Not with a clear conscience, at any rate. But yeah, I'm hanging in there.

What about you?

I've heard time isn't moving back home, so at least you don't have to worry about any trouble back there.

Ah... I have some important things to do back home as well, so I'd like to get back soon. But, I'm doing well here, there are worse places to be.

That doesn't make it feel any less like I'm wasting time, though.

Yeah, I hear you. There are definitely places worse than what we've got going on here.

It doesn't have to be a waste, train and get stronger here, it's time you wouldn't get back home. I'm sure there's something productive you could do if you feel like that.

What's your world like, if you don't mind me asking? You said something about angels and demons the last time we spoke.

I've been trying to work on something that I'll apparently need to do once I'm back, but since I hear people don't retain their memories, I don't know how productive that actually is.

It's... a pretty normal world, I guess, aside from the monsters. Most people don't know that ghosts and all of that exist, believing them to be products of fiction. It's nice for them who get to be ignorant, but it makes it harder on those of us who know about them and choose to fight them.

I haven't heard that. We don't remember?

Haah, and I bet they never believe you when you tell them, even if the evidence is staring them in the face. But it's worth it to save people, right? What sort of monsters do you fight?

My brother left and came back. He didn't remember. He's not the only one, or so I've heard.

We try not to tell them, actually. Too many of them deny it, or try to stick us in mental asylums or something. But you're right, what matters is saving people, whether or not they believe they need to be saved.

Name a monster, and I've likely faced off against it or something similar. Demons, vengeful spirits, zombies, witches... evil clowns.

I'm sorry to hear that. But at least he came back? I don't like to think I'll forget everyone here though...

Hiding the truth is just as hard though. Evil... Clowns? As in, monsters acting like clowns, or actual malicious jugglers?

Yeah... but it was almost like a different him. He'd gone through about a full year's worth of events that the... other him hadn't, so it changed him a little.

In my opinion, all clowns are evil. But there was one particular demon who liked masquerading as a clown to get children to trust him, and he would then follow them home and get them to let him in the house so he could eat their parents. That wasn't one of my favorite cases.

I see... That must have been difficult, I'm sorry.

...I used to be a clown. That's... A horrible thing to happen. But, you stopped him?

It was... weird. But I can handle weird.

... oh. Sorry. Yeah, he was stopped before too many people could get hurt, which is as good as we could hope for.

It's fine, it's fine. Thank goodness. It's sickening that things like that exist... I suppose some worlds are unlucky.

Childhood fears die hard. What's your world like? I know we talked about werewolves and things last time.

I understand, I used to hate clowns too. Then I was adopted by one... My world is pretty... We dont' have werewolves, but there's a lot of supernatural stuff. I work for the Vatican, we're fighting a war.

Ah... yeah, that could change a person's viewpoing pretty effectively. A war against what? The standard good and evil?
