Since I had been feeling a little down due to the weather's strange and sudden turn to the colder and the fact I hadn't seen friends in a while, my brother took me out to play today. We had lunch at Chipotle (jesus christ, their burritos are ginormous!) followed by an extended outing to Rasputin, where I quickly blew the aforementioned babysitting money, $40, and more! on cds. Ahahahhaaaaaa, I need a piggy bank or something to keep my hot little hands off money for a while. Fuck! Whatever happened to saving money for the Sailor Moon boxsets??? D: Now I'll never know what happened at the end of season 2...
Oh well, whatever. The CDs I got were REALLY worth it; I haven't felt this good about CD purchases in a while. For example, I finally got my cherished and beloved ♥♥Clap Your Hands Say YEAH♥♥ self-titled debut CD, WHEE!! Every track is so good that every time I listen to the CD, it becomes dearer and dearer to my heart. Definitely top 5 favorites. On a whim, I also bought Maximo Park - A Certain Trigger. I had never really heard of this band before, but I read a good in-store review that gave it 4 1/2 stars, so I bought it. Glad I did though! It's British (pop-)rock that's very fun and light-hearted, very easily comparable to Bloc Party or the Futureheads, sans crazy vocals. I also bought my brother The Pavement's (they came from STOCKTON [my brother goes to school there], how awesome) final album Terror Twilight as a belated birthday gift. The Pavement is good, I guess, but my brother is trying really hard to get me superduper into it. Apparently, The Pavement is one of the most influential rock bands to the Indie genre, practically pioneering the sound. It was one of the first bands to use the "lo-fi" quality sound recording and set the style for a lot of post-punk + indie bands.
After Rasputin Records, we headed to Blockbuster and rented Saving Private Ryan 'cuz last night when I was watching The Great Raid with my dad and my bro at the theatres, my brother was aghast when I admitted I had never seen Saving Private Ryan. So, we rented and watched it today. And holy shit. The first twenty minutes of that movie were terrifying. Some of the shock I got from watching the Beaches of Normandy scene was a little alleviated 'cuz I had seen a parody of it in Conker's Bad Fur Day but.... I've still been thoroughly tramautized. If I or my brother ever get drafted, I'm going to run and hide the both of us in Canada. :D;; On the upside, I learned alot of miscellaneous and interesting informations about war; like, now I know what mortars, "sticky bombs," and FUBAR mean. FUBAR, by the way, means "Fucked Up Beyond All/Any Recognition/Realization/Repair."
In school news, I got the final grades for the De Anza social psychology class and for my AP US History exam in the mail today. Educators, always naysaying me and my answers! As if we need history or psychology in practical life anyway, huff huff huff. .... Need I say more about what the grades actually were? And speaking of school, I have to go to school tomorrow for my interview meeting with Ms. Burrell. Haha, something tells me I should do my Junior Questionnaire before I come...
