Welcome to Seattle

L.D. didn't hate her family. She loved them...begrudgingly. There was less begrudging with Mom, Dad, and Nina - but the rest were a bit loud and loopy. She'd even had a fairly happy childhood. Her parents loved her and treated her well, she had a good friendship with her stepmother.

But over the previous year or two she'd started feeling...out of place. Like she didn't belong. It wasn't something she understood. At all.

Luna Dawn Rallita, commonly known to her family as Lulu, but preferably wide known as L.D. - was born and raised just outside Honolulu, Hawaii. Her parents were never together during her life, and she was perfectly fine with that. She hated being in the same room as them as it was. The parents shared custody, but by choice, around middle school, she had decided for herself that she wanted to live primarily with her dad and Nina. She loved her mom, but...her mom was a bit crazier than a young Brittney Spears sometimes.

L.D. lived close to her grandparents and most of her family was within a forty minute drive. Family being seven aunts and uncles biologically, several more by marriage, and cousins. Two of her aunts lived across the country and she rarely saw them, but it didn't make L.D.'s life any quieter.

School was harder than it should have been, making friends with the idiots her age wasn't something she was good at.

She just felt out of place.

Which was the only excuse she could really find as she sat on the Greyhound bus to Seattle. Why Seattle...she didn't know, but as soon as she found her way to California she went to the bus station and just picked a destination. She knew Seattle was a pretty crazy place, just like all the other big cities in those times, but nonetheless - it was where she was headed. And she really had no plans on going back to Hawaii anytime soon.

Dear Dad and Nina,
I love you guys, seriously I do. This has nothing to do with our relationship. I don't know what it is, but I need to get away. I don't belong here. Don't worry about me. I'll call in a few days. I'm sorry if I'm disappointing you.

Love,
Lulu
