Okay, so I pretty much just threw fifteen bucks down the toilet. THANKS BORDERS.COM
See, I really wanted that audiobook of Jeremy Irons reading Lolita. So I decided that instead of being a little thief and torrenting it, I'd actually go, you know, buy it (because the torrent I found is really slow and I want instant gratification). So I create an account at Borders.com, put in my card info, and download the audiobook. Or so I believe.
Turns out their audiobooks don't play on Mac. This would have been fine and dandy if they had, you know, TOLD me that before I PAID for the damn thing. I eventually found a little small-print footnote to that effect buried deep on the FAQ page.
So, that's bad enough. But it occurred to me that I do actually have a Windows computer, so I figured I could log back into the account on it and re-download it there, just maybe. But I can't even log in to my account on the Windows laptop, because whenever I enter my username and password it says IT DOESN'T RECOGNIZE MY USERNAME. TO MY ACCOUNT. THAT I JUST MADE.
I tried sending them an e-mail but basically all they had was a form letter, so I doubt I'll get any help ever at all. I guess I'll try calling the 800 customer support number tomorrow, for all the good that'll do. I know it was my own stupidity downloading the thing before I realized it wouldn't play on Mac, but I mean, excuse me for assuming an mp3 would play regardless of OS.
In short: FUCKING FUCK FUCK FUCKSTICKS. I'm SO SAD.
