Quick life update, blah blah blah

Let me start with the remarkable events from last semester:

2 nights of Sundowner, The Falcon, American Steel, and The Lawrence Arms
Bar none the best concerts I have ever seen, American Steel was incredible live, Sundowner was awesome, The Falcon hilarious, and The Lawrence Arms incredible as always. Even talked to BK one night.

Those two night were contributed to my complete collapse of work ethic and effort. Got shitty grades, had an annoying living situation, and I think got a little to carried away with being 21, but that also had to do with living situation.

Now I have a double single. It's unfortunate that the school year starts with February because it is by far the worst month of the year, and this year it's one day longer. With just one meeting with my adviser I landed one of the few research jobs here involving biomedical research, which correlates directly with all of my interests and reasons for switching into microbiology. I now work with Chlamydophila pneumoniae and a few closely related cousins, Chlamydia blah blah blah.  The lab has pretty much eaten away all of my free time which is cool because the semester was looking to be pretty easy and boring, at least I will have this to occupy my life with.

Also the taking of Microbial Genetics and Virology have really changed my views on life.  I'm not even sure what my views were before, or really what they are now but they have changed.  Learning about tiny molecular machines that have evolved probably >hundreds/thousands of ways to use and abuse every cell in existence, do a lot of what these cells do, and still not be alive, really boggles ones mind.

And finally, what a crappy year for New England sports.  I know UMass isn't cared about to much but the recent string of terribleness can be applied to them as well.  The basketball team essentially dropped straight out of March Madness contention by losing to some really crappy teams and sucking it up in conference play.  The hockey team really shit the bed in January.  After beating the #4 team and then the #6 team in the country right after one another, or vice versa, and then becoming ranked #5, being almost guaranteed to make it into the NCAA, they tournament they have lost almost every game since then and can do no better than 8th in hockey east.  This means they are destined to be destroyed by UNH in the first round, where the pretty much need to win Hockey East in order to make it into the real playoffs.

And then there is football which I tend to try and never mention anymore.
