[ ...well, Beika or not, Ran knows she still has people to take care of here. Wth what happened to Heiji and Adam, and Conan being around--she feels she really can't afford to slack, even if she still worries about how things are going back home, with her father, her best friend Sonoko...the other Detective Boys.
She's snuck out early this morning

Good morning, Ran.
It looked more like a portapotty when I first saw it. I'm wondering if the scientist dropped them here..

[ Ran smiles, turning to greet her. And she turns her attention away from her communicator for a moment to talk to her. ]
Yeah, now that you mention it, it...kind of does. But I heard some people calling it a teleporter over some of the other channels on this thing.
[ And she briefly gestures to the communicator. ]
I figured I would find out more about it...if I could.

[CLEARLY a trap of elude one's suspicion of the device.
Taps her chin briefly.]
Ah, I see. Though, I feel like no one here would unless you were the one that placed it here. I'm a little iffy on trusting anything they put here if it's not food and water.

[ Whoever designed them had an odd idea of what's reassuring, if that was the case. ]
I don't really trust it either. I guess that's why I never really tried myself, though I really think we should help out the people in the other areas...
Stick together, you know?
[ And she laughs a little. ]
...and I think we'd all be even more suspicious if it were food or water that they put out here. Or I think I would.
I prefer to cook my own food, anyway.

Couldn't agree more. If they can transport us else where then I guess they aren't too bad. Though I would think giving us a more 'practical' way of transportation.
Well, if they wanted to poison us I think they would have done so already or worse.
[I mean, why not drop another nuclear bomb on them?]
It's a good way to transport items back and forth at least that others need and vice versa.

[ And she blinks, looking a little startled by her assertion, though...really, she's right. ]
The scientists do control pretty much everything we eat and do, so you have a point there. I mean, I wasn't around for the bomb at Discedo but...I hear they even warned the residents.
What's that all about?

[Chances are they were testing this out on them. Free test subjects? Sounds like it.]
Maybe when this dry spell is over it'll help some of the seeds I've been planting. [More ingredients to cook with would be absolute love.]
I'm not even sure anymore. I keep feeling like I have them figured out, but they do something out of the ordinary.

But ah--she mentions planting, which is a far more pleasant topic, so she decides to focus on that instead. She's been looking for ingredients for new things to cook, anyway.
One day they'd figure out the scientists but...ugh, today is not that day. ]
Hey, that's pretty cool. I didn't know you had anything growing. What do you have planted so far?

But...doesn't stop one from getting creative with cooking!]
I...really don't know. I kind of just found them, so there wasn't any labeling or packaging so I decided to take a shot in the dark and grow it.
[Herp, well better than not knowing what it was.]
Though I think I'll ask around if there's any spare seeds around to use.

[ Well, there's nothing wrong with that. She would've probably tried the same thing, especially given what limited supplies they have here. They have to take what they can get, and being able to grow your own food is definitely a plus. ]
Have they sprouted yet?
[ She is curious about them~ ]
