BEER

I ventured to a dodgy part of Chinatown today in search of good, inexpensive (well, inexpensive for the quality) beer. Upon perusing the online reviews of this wholesale distributor, it seemed like the place to go. I wasn't at all perturbed by the few complaints about the location or customer service. As this is my fourth year living in the Bronx, I'm hardly one to be put off by run-down buildings and isolated street corners or strange passersby. As for customer service, I always prefer for salespeople to ignore me. The trip there was a long, but easy one. I took the D train straight from Fordham Road to Grand Street. Upon exiting the subway, I walked the few blocks down Chrystie Street. From the outside, New Beer Distributors is very unimpressive. Nevertheless, despite the dingy warehouse interior, I was overwhelmed by the impressive array of international and domestic beers. I browsed the selection for quite some time. Very few customers entered the store while I was there. Those who did come seemed more interested in the enormous and inexpensive cases of Miller Lite and such.

Now, I know very little about beer. I mostly chose beers I've heard people mention (although I have previously tried one of the beers I selected). I'm looking forward to trying all of these beers and then going back to try some different ones. So, I'd love to hear recommendations anyone might have. I actually picked up one of these beers because of an LJer's suggestion in one of my previous entries.
