Alanna meant to leave a note for security the other night, when she'd finally found a way back to the bar, but she'd been gripped by a sudden anxiety that she wouldn't be allowed to return. Thus, she decided to wait. And hope.
Further inland, chasing rumors of a troll, she stumbled upon another door; and this time, she means to follow through.

I wasn't missing my shifts on purpose. Indiana informs me a month has passed for you, whereas Raph and I have been in Tortall, unable to return, for six years. The doors simply disappeared.
I apologize. I wish I had had some way to send word, or some warning.
While I seem able to go back and forth again, I am frequently on the road these days. I will check back when time and circumstances permit.

After pinning the note to the board and reading -- with regret -- Lan's note, she stops by Bar for a glass of cool water and a cloth to wipe her face. It's then that she gets Moiraine's goodbye as well. Thoughtful, Alanna hurries through the door, drawing her sword and feeling glad that she made mention of her duties at home.
