In the infirmary, there is a mini staff meeting going on. As in a meeting involving the miniature members of staff anyway.

"So this cupboard needs restocking." Guppy says. "... Work Experience, is that a tiny iPod you're listening to while I'm talking to you?"

Enzo returns to see how his patient is doing. Hopefully better for some rest.

"Dude?"

Enzo gets a smile for (a) being more or less the first person at Milliways Alex has seen more than twice, even if they never got around to introductions, and (b) rescuing him from his boredom. He was starting to wonder if he could borrow the rat's iPod. "Still alive."

"Glad to hear it. Head stopped leaking?"

The smile turns wry. "All plugged up."

[a1enzo]

"Not full of wood anymore?"

[v_accidentprone]

"Wood-free."

It's a definite improvement all around.

Enzo nods approvingly.

"You got a name?"

[v_accidentprone]

They never did get around to that, did they? "It's Alex. Alex Rider."

[a1enzo]

"Enzo Matrix."

He offers a seriously overlarge hand.

And Alex accepts it with his much more regular-sized one. "Pleased to meet you."

Beat.

"Again."

[a1enzo]

"Likewise."

No body heat, smooth plastic, you know the drill.

"So, am I allowed to ask what happened to you?"

[v_accidentprone]

"I could tell you what happened," Alex says, eyes sparkling with the innocent mischief of a schoolboy playing James Bond, "but then I'd have to kill you."

"And then I'd have to defend myself, and you'd start leaking again, and we'd have wasted a lot of time."

[v_accidentprone]

"Probably for the best if we skip it entirely," Alex agrees, more or less cheerfully.

"Just whatever it was, don't do it again."

[v_accidentprone]

"Believe me," Alex says, with perfect sincerity, "I have no intention of doing it ever again."
