The pre-game traditions have been observed, the End of the Universe Enigmas have taken their places on the diamond, the first batters for the Milliways Paradoxes are ready, and Abner Doubleday has no doubt sat up in his grave in at least one continuity.
Time to get started, then.
Meg Ford, umpire, takes a deep breath and announces, "Play ball."

This is it. The first pitch of the game.
Sari swaggers up to home plate. (Or tries to. Swaggering kind of loses its effectiveness when you have pigtails that jiggle with every step you take.) She taps the bat once against each shoe, and readies herself to swing.

Crowley's waiting on the mound. He doesn't really do cramps, but he's nevertheless been making some concession to stretching, ball in hand, as he prepares to Bring It.
When he sees the size of his first batter, though, pigtails inclusive, he kind of deflates a little.
On the other hand: Milliways. Who knows what kind of awesome cosmic powers she might be hiding that Crowley can't pick up on?
Welp. Time to put that practice into use.
He mediates his pitch: fast, but humanly fast. Testing.

The third out in the top of the inning sets off a flurry of activity, as the Enigmas head back to their bench and the Paradoxes take the field for the first time.
And then, once everyone is ready, the game resumes.

It's a moot point, though, as she swings and misses by a significant margin.
Strike one.

But he hardly is when the wicked smirk he tosses his sister says Let's get this started now.

"Hey batter batter hey batter batter sa-WING!"
...you can safely assume she's gonna be doing that whenever the other team is at bat. Just FYI.
