03 - video/action for Violet City;

Jul 02, 2011 16:00

[Today is a busy day for Sonic. He's been spending the past few weeks training, working to get some pocket money, and hanging out with his travel partners and party.

Well, after a long stay in Violet City, Sonic's ready to rock at the Gym! The video feed opens as he and his Quilava, Jolteon, and Gengar approach Falkner. There's also some squeaking from his Furret, who's holding onto the 'Gear.]

Yo, leader! I heard you're lookin' for a battle.

And I suppose you're here to challenge me?

[Sonic smirks, waving his finger.]

Correctamundo, bub! I've been workin' my butt off just so I could take you on, and now I'm ready.

[His Pokémon all cry out in response, some more enthusiastic than others.]

Just don't get too cocky. Even against an electric type, my bird Pokémon won't back down!

Just the way I like it!

[Falkner makes the first move, sending out his Noctowl and waiting for Sonic to take his pick. This takes a couple of seconds, as Sonic glances over to his team of five to take his pick.]

That guy up front said that electricity's our best bet... [MegaMan perks up as he says that]

But I don't wanna make this too easy. Hope ya don't mind, Megs, but I wanna shake things up a bit.

Are you absolutely sure?

You bet! Megs is cool and all, but he's way stronger than the rest of these guys. I gotta give 'em their chance to shine, soooo... C'mon over, Fang! It's go time!

[The Sneasel rubs his claws together and hops right into the action. A plain old normal/flying type? That's almost too easy.

But nonetheless, the Noctowl proves to be a little tougher than expected. Reflect cuts down the power of Fang's Slash and Quick Attack, and Uproar nails him good. Fortunately, a couple of screeches, agility, and some tough ice punches nails the oversized owl where it hurts.

Though Fang's completely exhausted by the end of the first round, he comes out on top. Sonic grins and allows Fang to take the back seat, giving himself a thumbs-up.]

Way to go, Fang! Chalk that one up for team hedgehog.

[Falkner gives Sonic a strange look at that last remark, but presses on with his next Pokémon: Honchcrow.]

You may have won this round, but don't underestimate me. Your next opponent is even greater than the last.

We'll just see about that, bird-boy. Now let's see... [Naugus, Sally, or Comet... Who to use?] Yo, Sal. You up for this? [The Furret lets out a little moan. A normal type against birds isn't exactly a bright idea, but she does know ThunderPunch now. So, she hands the 'Gear to Sonic and steps forward.

The battle that pursues is a lot different than the last. Honchcrow's Thunderwave makes it difficult to fight back, and its dark type moves lay on the hurt. But when the ThunderPunches hit, they hit hard. With a low defense, Honchcrow goes down soon enough.

Falkner looks appalled by the situation and quickly switches out his final bird.]

I take it you've used the move tutors... Clever, but it won't save you from my final Pokémon. Go, Pidgeot!

[Shaking his head, Sonic turns down to his team. That Pidgeot looks tough, so he'll have to pick out the right choice for this bad boy. But who...?

He spots Comet shying away from the others. That's when an idea hits him.]

Comet, let's do this! [The Quilava lowers his head, slipping behind Sal. Sonic sighs.] C'mon, man. You can do this! You've just gotta stay focused and do your best. [He crouches down and pats Comet on the head.]

Trust me, you're not in this alone.

[From behind, the Pidgeot shrieks and beats its wings. Even Falkner's looking bored. Luckily, that coaxing was all Comet needed to step forward and fight.

And what a fight it is. Unlike Sal and Fang, Comet has no super effective moves, forcing him to rely on his speed and fire moves to get the job done. As Pidgeot dives down, he tosses up a SmokeScreen, allowing him to get some distance before attacking with Lava Plume. In its confusion, the Pidgeot gets nailed with a nasty burn.

About two thirds through the fight, Falkner orders Pidgeot to use roost. It works like a charm, but doesn't quite ditch the burn. Comet uses SmokeScreen again and follows it up with Heat Wave. Some Air Slashes and Double Teams even the playing field.

Overall, it's the toughest of the three fights, and Sonic sacrifices a few potions in the process. But in the end, the burns get the best of Pidgeot. Sonic's defeated Falkner and is awarded the Zephyr badge. But that's not all, as Sonic and his team congratulate Comet on his success, the little Quilava starts to glow. At this point, the feed ends.]

[Sometime after the gym battle, Sonic starts up another feed outside one of the restaurants. By then, his team's gotten some rest and healed properly.]

Yo, Johto! I've been wondering... You guys know any fast Pokémon? And I mean really fast. I've already got a Sneasel, Typhlosion, Gengar, Jolteon, and a Furret, but I wanna add more to it. So, help me out here.

Just two big requirements: It's gotta be fast and cool. Or at least evolve into somethin' cool.

[ooc: Badge was mod approved.]

comet evolves, move tutors rule, thunderpaunch is go!, badge get, silly birds, third
