Streetfest 2009

Jun 21, 2009 19:00

Hurhur, I'm super slow in posting here in my lj. Not that anybody is reading, HAHAHAHAHA.

So yes, Streetfest '09 @ *scape park, 13 June 2009. It was my first time cosplaying, and yeah, big disaster. I only completed my prop in the morning, 'cos some parts just can't seem to fit well, and I had to saw/file down the wood pieces further. Having said this, of course you can expect my prop to fall apart. The only thing I was glad was that it only fell apart AFTER I left *scape park, THANK GOODNESS. And I further trimmed my wig in the morning as well. HOW LAST MINUTE AM I HUH *nods nods*

'cos my partner is a guy, so obviously we can't be in the same toilet, and being the first time wearing "less-than-normal" "more-than-unusual" clothes, I dare not stand at the table/tap to do my make-up/wig-wearing etc! And what the heck, the toilet I thought would be quite secluded didn't turn out that way. So I retreated into a cubicle and did ALL MY THINGS in there. Including my brow-coloring/drawing, and my lashes. It was quite embarrassing to step out of the cubicle looking >30% different from how you looked like when you entered, and with so many foreign faces staring at you.

Maybe it was because of the heat and my last-minute work, I wasn't in any much of a happy-a-do mood, which is a very bad thing to say, since Sakura is supposed to be a CHEERFUL kid, not so long-faced emo dude. So I was like, erps shit I'm so OOC the entire event. And yeah, spastic face is spastic; most of my facial expressions on pictures looked friggin' tensed and stretched. I'm just not used to smiling, what the hell.

Met a lot of people (and really, it's a lot), saw some familiar faces, saw some faces I wish I didn't saw. Personally, I felt that the standard of cosplay in Singapore is improving, 'cos I do see some cosplayers doing a good job. Some, never learns (those I don't want to see). And I was the blur klutz that had somebody scream my name across the event venue and until now, still, I have no idea who did that, HAHAHA. I just can't see/spot people proper with my color lenses. Have astig D;

I was quite confounded when we arrived at the venue, 'cos twintwin (my Syaoran) and I were still taking it slow, super OOC and whatnots, and we only just stepped onto ONE grass, and we had people swarming, asking for pictures. I HAVEN'T EVEN TAKE MY SAKURA CARDS AND ATTACH MY WAND PARTS DD8 So yeah, panic panic, snapped snapped, say thanks to all, sweat.

That's more or less the gist of the whole day, with me stoning and accidentally staring at people (I guess I was just spacing out), unable to recognise people yadayada. Typical me in a crowded place. Even though I was sort of moody inside, I still had fun with twintwin, and friends (some new, some old). It was like, a mini-gathering for me, with all my cosplay friends, 'cos I've been out of the scene for ages due to school term. HAHAHAHA EXPECT THAT FROM ME AGAIN NEXT SEM. Maybe I'll just post a little here and there in sgcafe, but nahh, no cosplay from me during school term. Have to plan my december schedule well with preparations and shoots *determined*

Spent the next 2-3 days replying quite a number of PMs/messages from fellow sgcafe-ers, asking me about me being Sakura, where they saw me etc. Expected of me, most of the people, I don't remember seeing them! LOL Maybe except for the few like Aya-chan, 'cos I seriously swear I remember staring at her at the neoprint shop, 'cos she looked so friggin' familiar to me but I can't link up. Knowing more people sort of cheers me up, 'cos sometimes you just feel that, you're not exactly alone all the time. But then again, how many of these actually know me as a person, as a friend, ROFL.

That's about all for Streetfest, and I should really start working on my Cosfest prop, and re-do my Sakura wand for a photoshoot. And here's a picture of twintwin and I at Streetfest, the only picture I posted on dA, taken by Usagi-san <3
