Pastor squeeze a lot of nuggets out of following verses... follow this closely - Exo28:31-35 "You shall make the robe of the ephod all of blue. There shall be an opening for his head in the middle of it; it shall have a woven binding all around its opening, like the opening in a coat of mail, so that it does not tear. And upon its hem you shall make pomegranates of blue, purple, and scarlet, all around its hem, and bells of gold between them all around a golden bell and a pomegranate, a golden bell and a pomegranate, upon the hem of the robe all around. And it shall be upon Aaron when he ministers, and its sound will be heard when he goes into the holy place before the LORD and when he comes out, that he may not die.
Melchizedek Priesthood ONLY BLESSED
Jesus stood before the High Priest, actually all the while He did not answer, He keep silent like a Lamb let to be slaughter, He kept quiet so that He will not be delivered so that we can speak up the promises of God and be delivered. The moment the High Priest saw that He was silent, he command Him by His Father’s name and Jesus look up and say: “I AM…” Let’s look at the pictures:
The High Priest is not supposed to tear his garment according to the law in Leviticus. He did not even realize the symbolic act of what he was doing. God was signifying that all the Aaronic Priesthood of law came to an end before the new High Priest of grace. It was a symbolic act that God allow him to perform. God wants to bring the old Priesthood to an end and bring a new Priesthood call Melchizedek that only bless and never curse! The first occurrence of this new Priesthood can be seen in Gen14:18-20 Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was the priest of God Most High. And he blessed him and said: "Blessed be Abram of God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth; and blessed be God Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand." Why this Priesthood have not curse? Because on that cross, Christ has redeem us from the curse of the law that the blessing might keep on going on.
One of the last act which the disciple saw with their eyes is in Luke24:50-52 And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them. Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven. And they worshiped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, and were continually in the temple praising and blessing God. Amen. The Lord was taken away NOT went away. He was taken away and blessing the people. He was showing them what He is going to do for the next 2000 years and forever!
The Bells and the Pomegranates
10 days after Jesus went back to His Father, Peter preached a sermon which got 3000 saved! Peter in the sermon explained the reason for the tongues in Acts2:32-33 This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses. Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear. This tongue you are hearing is the witness that Jesus has gone back to the Holy of Holies. The little thing that hit the inside of the wall of bell is call tongue! Bell is good news!
The pomegranates in Exo28 is not real pomegranates, it is decorative pomegranates. The 3 colors speak of Jesus and His finished work which we can see in the previous series. God chose this fruit because it has amazing number of seeds inside the fruit… the fruitfulness of the fruit so that we can be fruitful! Look at the love conversation of the bridegroom praising the bride in Sgs4:3 Your lips are like a strand of scarlet, and your mouth is lovely. Your temples behind your veil are like a piece of pomegranate. Jesus was saying to us: “When I look at your temple, I see your thoughts and they are like all those seeds, all the thoughts are washed in the red liquid of my blood.” All our bad thoughts are washed by Jesus blood! His blood is ever cleansing us which can be seen in 1Joh1:7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
The Gifts and Fruits of the Holy Spirit
The golden bells speak of the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the pomegranates speak of the fruit of the Spirit. Dove is the bird used to typify the Holy Spirit; it has 9 principle wings on the left and on the right. God wants us to have both sides - 9 gifts and 9 fruits! We can these 9 gifts in 1Cor12:7-11 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: 8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills. Let us see the 9 fruits of Spirit in Gal5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
In order to understand the gifts, we use a division in groups of 3 as shown in below picture:
The Feast of Tabernacle is a picture of Old Testament and the Menorah that was the centerpiece of the Tabernacle of Moses in the wilderness had seven branches. The Feast of Chanuka is a picture of New Testament. The Chanuka Menorah has nine branches, eight to commemorate the eight day feast. The 9 branches typify the 9 gifts and 9 fruits of the Holy Spirit. There is a discovery in medical field that says that only 1/10 of our brain is used. Guess what? The rest of the 9/10 is the gifts of the Holy Spirit!
Pastor touches on 3 gifts. Word of wisdom is a word from God regarding the future. Word of knowledge is the information from God on what is happening in the present. Why is it in the body of Christ, there is so much riches and yet we did not see much manifestation? This is because in the Chanuka Menorah, there is one that light up the rest, is called the "Shamash" and is used to light the other candles which stir up the other gifts. What is the one gift that operates at your will? Praying in tongues! If we will use the gift to stir up the rest of the gifts!
The 9 fruits are also in groups of 3. The first 3 are love, joy and peace is for our benefit. The second 3 are patience, kindness and goodness is for our relationship with others. The last 3 is towards God - faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. The groups for the categories are for our benefit to understand. Actually the 9 gifts in 1Cor12 and the 9 fruits in Gal5 are flowing in divine order - bell pomegranate, bell pomegranate and so on. If all bell and no fruit, it will saw very empty like noisy “gong”. The fruit harmonize the sounds which make your ministry acceptable. Your gifts must flow with the fruits. Pastor chooses the first 3 to illustrate the first 3 gifts which flow with the first 3 fruits:
Word of Wisdom - Love: Share something negative in future but people felt the love of God cause they felt that God is watching over them in the negative circumstance.
Word of Knowledge - Joy: Share something positive in the present always comes with joy and people will felt joyful.
Faith - Peace: The level of faith comes with peace inside us. This can be seen in the decision made whether you need to see a doctor. It is the level of faith and we can feel the peace inside us.
The Urim and Thummim as LIGHTS and PERFECTIONS
Exo28:29-30 So Aaron shall bear the names of the sons of Israel on the breastplate of judgment over his heart, when he goes into the holy place, as a memorial before the LORD continually. And you shall put in the breastplate of judgment the Urim and the Thummim, and they shall be over Aaron's heart when he goes in before the LORD. So Aaron shall bear the judgment of the children of Israel over his heart before the LORD continually. Urim and the Thummim mean lights and perfections. The lights and perfections are in the breastplate of the High Priest. The Urim and the Thummim is used for guidance. This can be seen in Num27:21 He shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire before the LORD for him by the judgment of the Urim. At his word they shall go out, and at his word they shall come in, he and all the children of Israel with him--all the congregation." Joshua asks God on the guidance shall they go and fight or wait… they are like Heaven typewriter and they shines out YES in Hebrew.
Story of David to illustrate Urim and Thummim
Let us see another illustration of Urim and Thummim by looking at the beautiful story of David in1Sam30:1-8 Now it happened, when David and his men came to Ziklag, on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the South and Ziklag, attacked Ziklag and burned it with fire, and had taken captive the women and those who were there, from small to great; they did not kill anyone, but carried them away and went their way. So David and his men came to the city, and there it was, burned with fire; and their wives, their sons, and their daughters had been taken captive. Then David and the people who were with him lifted up their voices and wept, until they had no more power to weep. And David's two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the widow of Nabal the Carmelite, had been taken captive. Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God. Then David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech's son, "Please bring the ephod here to me." And Abiathar brought the ephod to David. So David inquired of the LORD, saying, “Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?" And He answered him, "Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all."
David’s mighty men believe in David, but they thought of stoning him because of their family. David saw beyond their anger to grieve… good leader! There is something special about David… David strengthened himself in the LORD his God! Some of the best Psalm is written in moments like that. God loves it when we are honest with the Lord. No wonder David is a man after God’s heart; He is so real with the Lord. Yea… tell the Lord how we feel… the one who loves us! Look at the last phrase… when David asks for guidance, the Lord tells him to pursue and he shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all!
Look at the results in 1Sam30:16-20 And when he had brought him down, there they were, spread out over all the land, eating and drinking and dancing, because of all the great spoil which they had taken from the land of the Philistines and from the land of Judah. Then David attacked them from twilight until the evening of the next day. Not a man of them escaped, except four hundred young men who rode on camels and fled. So David recovered all that the Amalekites had carried away, and David rescued his two wives. And nothing of theirs was lacking, either small or great, sons or daughters, spoil or anything which they had taken from them; David recovered all. Then David took all the flocks and herds they had driven before those other livestock, and said, "This is David's spoil."
David not only recovered all, he took all the spoils of the enemies! When a devil attacks us, he is taking a big risk, because if we know how to look to the Lord, not only must he gives it back, he has to give back from his boundary. When God restores is always greater in quality and quantity! Adam before he fell, he was in charge of the garden and earth. Now, we are in charge of the whole universe as joint partner with Christ!
We are PERFECT and ONE in CHRIST
Ezra2:62-63 These sought their listing among those who were registered by genealogy, but they were not found; therefore they were excluded from the priesthood as defiled. And the governor said to them that they should not eat of the most holy things till a priest could consult with the Urim and Thummim. There is no High Priest from that time until Jesus came… when Jesus cried “IT IS FINISHED!” the lights about our completeness in Christ has come; the perfect acceptance by our Daddy God has come through Jesus! The most holy things are healing, health, wealth, wisdom from God, intimacy with God etc. Why some Christian cannot eat of the most holy thing though they can see? They have a High Priest Jesus but the question is - Do they believe the lights and perfections that Jesus bring into their life?
The Urim and Thummim is placed inside the breast plate. Where must Joshua and David get guidance? At the breast plate! If we don’t see ourselves as precious, perfect and righteous, we cannot be lead. If we don’t see one another as precious, perfect and righteous. When we always see the flaws in the body of Christ, we are not operating in God’s wavelength. God’s wavelength is that we are all precious, perfect, and righteous and we are all one in Christ! We are not perfect at each others eyes… but we are perfect in God’s eyes for God see us in Christ heart where we are presented by Jesus our High Priest! Whoo… see how much Daddy loves us!
