Not dead, just not here
Howdy. Thought it might be useful to point out that I haven't been reading Livejournal at all since early August, nor (as was probably more evident) writing here, but that I am still alive and well and living in Denmark. Well, two out of three.
I remain vaguely ambivalent about Livejournal and have had quite a falling out with my telephone, so as a general rule, email is the best way to reach me. I would deal with the phone, but I've found I really like not (for incoming calls purposes) having a phone. Just putting that out there: Phone = bad. Email = good.
The very brief life notes:
* working for Joe Hoeffel (progressive Democrat for PA governor) wearing several different hats (policy analyst, field organizing) and hoping to become official staff within a month or so; a lot of the staff are former Obama people; been working from home and coffeeshops for several weeks, and will start working increasingly at the Norristown headquarters
* working as a consulting librarian for an enormous library my family recently inherited, which involves a lot of time on-site (in Virginia) sorting, boxing, moving, unboxing, sorting, researching, cataloging and/or photographing, reboxing/shelving ... followed by time off-site (in Pennsylvania) working from photographs to catalog everything on LibraryThing through WorldCat/OCLC lookups using some nifty automation tools
* morris dancing, which has recently involved organizing and hosting an enormously successful tour of Philadelphia with five teams from Philadelphia, New York, New Jersey, and Washington; lots of political organizing skills proved ideal for both setting things up over the past couple months and dealing with all the small issues on the tour itself to keep things running smoothly all day; introduced about fifty people to the Magic Gardens
Ok, back to reading white papers about Marcellus Shale. Not as beautiful as the Magic Gardens, but not as tedious as formatting publication data. Perhaps I'll blog here again; perhaps I'll start reading here again; but I'm not sure about either of those for now. Just wanted to stick this out there where I presume most friends I've been out of touch with will see it. Howdy, friends!
