Nathan was in his room. Not that it mattered much. He wasn't sure if he really slept here. Felt like he did. He had a picture of his brother, and was staring down at it. He could still feel the heat radiating off of his brother as he exploded in the NY night sky. Fire

Shadows moved- jerking movements of hurried actions like those of horror movies. It moved keeping its self just out of the corner of ones eye.
Something is watching you, Nathan.

Faces pushed out behind him with their mouths opening in silent screams.
Closer, Nathan. Look closer to the walls..

"Where the hell are you? Come out now!"

Hands- burned and decaying with skin missing revealing tried up bone and muscle- reached out grasping ahold of the living man's wrist with a vice like grasp.
Something, somewhere, laughed.
More hands reached out grasping for Nathan giving their best to pull him toward and into the wall.
The shadows jerked and twisted in ways that were not natural as they rushed to where the arms were seeming to give strength. Come. Come back into what shall be your final resting place.

He struggled, and dug in his heels, trying to grab for something to hang on to. Even as he was pulled through the wall, his feet and hand the last to be seen as he vanished.
Leaving behind a empty room with smooth walls. Silent.

Seamless white in the style of the old operating rooms from the 1930s. White tile lined wall and ceiling with the hints of decorative patterns up closer to the ceiling. No shadows here. Nothing dark or nasty...
In the center of the room was an old wheelchair with a man wearing pinstriped blue hospital pjs and a white bandage wraped all about his head. He sat there not moving, maybe not even breathing.

Nathan blinked, and his footsteps clicked loudly on the tiled floor. His eyes flickered around the room, but nothing else popped out. Nothing was trying to grab him.
The wheelchair caused a pang in his heart, thinking of the months Heidi spent in one. Because of what he did, or couldn't stop himself from doing. And she paid the price as result.
He came around to the front of the wheelchair, trying to see if the man was all right. Or if he needed to call for help.

From behind him Mary stood starkly dark agains the whiteness of the room. Skin nearly matched the white causing her dark eyes and clothing to stand out like a smudge of dirt.
By her side her arms hung without moving- even her bell remaind silent for now.

"Mary... why not? What's wrong with him?"

Reaching her hand up Mary tried to take Nathan's hand closest to her. Her dark eyes looked up a him then back to the man in the chair.

"See what? What doesn't exist? What is he afraid of?"

The man in the chair jumped forward, grabing Nathan by the shoulders and screaming under the bandages. There was no time to react.
No time for a scream.
The room grew brighter as the walls seemed to blow away from where they stood. Around them the old hospital seemed to regrow with chairs turning right side up, the paint peelings picking up of the floors back to their proper places on the walls.
Color! Color returned to everything around them giving life as the images of those who had been htere before walked the halls on their daily routines. What the hospital shold have been in the Between Lands had it not been corrupted.
Mary squeezed his hand softly. Welcome to the true Old Kingdom, Nathan.

"...What the hell just happened?"

Tugging his hand a little the little girl started to move down the hall. "You need to see things, Nathan. You have to be ready."
Reply
"Ready for what? I already helped my brother save the world, I got that folder for you. What else am I supposed to do?"
