[ childhood ]
  • Grew up in a very happy, very supportive environment, to parents who were definitely not as absent as most royal couples.
  • Only child.
  • She was very close to her mom growing up; they would often take long walks together, but her mother had a passion for gardening and flowers that Elika never really understood.
  • Due to the safety of the City of Light, elika was perfectly fine wandering in the market day and night on her own with little consequence; everyone knew her and she got free stuff all the time.
  • She secretly liked being a princess, or at least the idea of it, but outwardly expressed a lot of huffiness over being forced to memorize a shitton of rituals and prayers and being swaddled in ridiculous ritual dress.
  • While she was generally an obedient and docile child, and always attended prayers and her lessons, she was very fond of scurrying away as soon as they were done.
  • She would often be found hidden away in small nooks and crannies, but this subsided as she got older.
  • Her family had lots of horses when she was small; as people left, some were taken as parting gifts, until only a small number remained. When there was no one even left to take care of them, Elika turned them out into the desert.

[ personal ]
  • Never had a boyfriend! Never been kissed! Never been touched! Never anything!
  • Didn't have many close friendships as a child, so when the people of her kingdom started leaving she was left pretty much friendless.
  • Her only experience of real romance is from vaguely pervy books.
  • She got her kicks in her teens by sneaking books about sexuality out of her father's library.
  • She had one or two beaus when she was about 13-14, but she had no interest in any of them.
  • Has probably been betrothed before, but any such alliances crumbled in the dust in the face of her father's mental illness.
  • She's not immune to the Prince's charm, but her upbringing always gets the better of her; sex = marriage = babies. She's very ambivalent about contraceptives.
  • She would accept a marriage of convenience if it helped her people.

[ appearance + clothing ]

  • She kept her hair very, very long until her mid-teens, at which point she chopped it all off, creating the short look you see today.
  • Elika is on the shorter side of average: about 5'4”.
  • The clothes she wears during the game were her mother's; in fact, a lot of her adult wardrobe is her mother's, due to a lack of seamstresses to make new things.
  • In Garden: likes athletic wear! It's comfortable and absorbs sweat well. Also, running shoes are the best thing.
  • For teaching, wears a two-piece suit and low heels in SPC and her athletic gear for ROC.
  • How do I high heels. She succeeds only in near-killing herself whenever she wears them, but she tries hard because apparently it's something that Classy Women should be able to do.
  • She doesn't wear makeup typically, but wore kohl for ritual purposes and sometimes, very rarely, wears it decoratively.

[ education and skills ]
  • She speaks: Avestan, Persian/Farsi, Greek, Latin, Arabic.
  • Her calligraphy is flowing and smooth, and her handwriting is very neat.
  • An accomplished dancer and horsewoman (WR: this has not translated to Chocobos, yet.)
  • If left to her own devices, she is perfectly content to read for hours.
  • While she likes looking at nice art, she's quite bad at making it herself. She's fine with plain drawing, but as soon as colours and nuances start appearing she's next to useless.
  • Due to the presence of servants growing up, she continues to be unable to cook anything beyond very simple dishes, and doesn't feel motivated to experiment.
  • She can play the setar and barbat, leading to an interest in the guitar.
  • She is able to sew enough to mend small tears in her clothing.

[ religion ]
  • In the magical version of Zoroastrianism that Elika adheres to, the prophet Zoroaster never existed. Lol, awkward. It's therefore more appropriate to simply call it 'Mazdaism'.
  • She liked to 'talk' to Ormazd a lot as a kid, something she grew out of and eventually came to think of as kind of embarrassing. During the years of solitude, she briefly started up again, if only to have someone to talk to about books; none of her father's soldiers were literate.
  • When her father first started to show signs of depression and mental illness she went through a period of strong religious doubt, lashing out against her metaphysical 'father' the way she couldn't bring herself to lash out against her real father.
  • She has no clue what Christianity is or who this Jesus guy is supposed to be, but she would probably go for his ideas! Actually the Abrahamic religions would be right up her alley if they didn't involve giving up Ormazd. :c
  • She can recite the entire Avesta. (The entire thing, including the Yashts and the Siroza.) Surprisingly, she doesn't have a favourite verse.

[ lifestyle + habits ]
  • Actually not a particularly clean person-again, mainly due to servants-but very neat, and she does try her best to stay on top of the dust.
  • She requires surprisingly minimal upkeep, for a princess. She's also very good at budgeting her spending, but she prefers to splurge on a few nice things than buy a lot of poor quality things.
  • Early to bed, early to rise-enjoys rising with the sun.
  • Doesn't smoke or take drugs but does drink socially. She has never gotten drunk.
  • She keeps a very healthy, but not very strict, diet. Modern, processed foods taste a bit strange to her, almost too flavorful. Thank goodness the Prince cooks for her.

[ misc ]
  • She doesn't like small, enclosed spaces.
  • Dog person, surprisingly.
  • Left-handed! This was considered a minor blessing upon discovery, as Hauvartat, Ameretat and Spenta Armaiti, the three female 'sparks' of Ormazd's creation-wholeness, immortality and devotion, respectively-all appear on His left hand.
