Hahahaha. So true. Fox, The Killer Of Shows. Thank god it didn't go on the CW, or I would have feared instant cancellation of something I actually care about. *g*
I think what killed Firefly was the Reality show boom. Thank God that is on the decline and we're getting more and more good scripted shows!
I'm getting a co-worker hooked on Buffy (she drove from SE Urbana to SW Champaign last night after trick or treating to pick up Season 4 of Buffy and I handed her Season 1 of Angel too...). Hopefully other people have been discovering the Whedonverse too over the past few years and maybe Dollhouse will have a good sized built in audience when it airs.
Firefly was hit hard because of the rise of reality TV & the fact Fox had no idea how to promote the show. I don't think they ever really "got" the show at all. Their loss.
But yay Joss! And he's got a 7 episode deal, hopefully that will help stem off the early cancellation issues. But with Fox? I'm not gonna hold my breath.

And of course they'll probably decide to air it on Thursdays at 8...along with every other freaking show.
Bastards.

Fox's track record of cancelling the awesomness speaks for itself.
