the defenestration of prague

♥ I'm testing out a new .gif program, so my apologies for what is sure to be a giant outpouring of animated dorkery over the next while. I'm too fascinated by the AUTOMATIC LAYERING OH EM GEE.

Really short Sakuraiba drabble for karadin, inspired by the Aiba/Sho moment after Aiba's letter to the Arashi members on 24 Hour TV. It's not even 100 words, so there's really no reason to re-post it...

♥ A Little More Action | Sho/Aiba fluff for goopawahla | ~700 words | PG | Johnny's Entertainment - Arashi RPS

It isn't hard to tell when Aiba wants something. In fact, he's about as subtle as Chinen-kun's crush on Ohno. All day, he had been bouncy and impatient, flicking glances in Sho's direction often enough during their taping session that he actually got a reprimand from the staff.

Sho finally breaks down and asks him if anything is wrong after they're finished work for the day.

It's not that he doesn't care about Aiba, because he really, really does. It's not that Sho isn't worried, because worrying about Aiba is just an occupational hazard of being part of Arashi, just like worrying if Ohno will get lost on his way home or that Nino will go blind from too much time staring at his DS screen or that Jun would run out of purple clothes someday and explode. It's just what Sho does.

It's just that Aiba's problems are often, honestly...a little odd.

"You don't touch me anymore," Aiba says accusingly, loudly, arms crossed and leaning against the wall of the hallway where Sho had cornered him.

Three staff members (out of instinct and long-standing experience) politely disappeared from the vicinity while Sho turned beet red, Aiba glaring at him with miserable puppy eyes from under his bangs.

"I-I do so!" Sho wasn't even sure why he was arguing this point. The whole thing seemed completely absurd. "I held your hand for like, five whole minutes last week when we went out drinking."

"Well, I don't remember," Aiba slumps further back against the wall, "You're always snuggling with Leader and Nino lately, you even cuddled with MatsuJun for forty minutes yesterday while he showed you that article in his fashion magazine."

Sho sighs. "Aiba-chan," he begins wearily, "You do know that I love you."

"Then why have you been avoiding touching me?" The puppy eyes were back out in full force. Sho was really weak against Aiba's puppy eyes. They made him want to do weird things, like take Aiba home and wrap him in a blanket and feed him lots of his favourite foods.

"I told you, I haven't," Sho ran a hand through his hair, frustrated, "I just - look, I don't think about touching you, or any of the other members. It just...happens. Right?"

Aiba studies him carefully for a minute and Sho lets a spark of hope flare in his chest that he might have penetrated the absurdly complicated and random maze of Aiba's brain.

Then he is yanked forward unceremoniously into the biggest hug he has experienced since saying goodbye to Shibata Rie after the Yamada Tarou filming wrap-up.

"Urk," Sho manages, struggling to breathe as Aiba tightened his grip, apparently attempting to wind himself completely around Sho's body, "Masaki."

"Woah, save it for the dressing room," Nino comments as he passes by, dragging Ohno behind him by the wrist.

"Aiba, I can't breathe," Sho complains. Aiba doesn't reply, but he relaxes his grip a little, resting his head on Sho's shoulder, hands bunching the material of Sho's sweater in his fists.

"Aiba?" Sho asks again, wondering if he might be crying.

"When you don't touch me at all," Aiba says, his voice muffled by Sho's shirt, "I think that you might be annoyed with me or tired of me or something. I know it's not true, but you're so distant sometimes that it's hard to tell."

Sho instantly feels guilty. He slides his own arms tighter around Aiba, hands rubbing in soothing circles across Aiba's back. "Aiba-chan," he sighs, trying to convey all his exasperation and affection, pulling back a little to press a soft kiss to Aiba's temple. "Honestly."

"I'm sorry," Aiba sniffles a little, "I know it's a bit stupid."

"No, no," Sho soothes, "I guess I haven't been showing my member-ai enough lately, huh? I'll try to do better, okay?"

"'Kay," Aiba manages in a very small voice and Sho hugs him close again, completely unaware of the victorious smile creeping across Aiba's face.

It isn't until the next week's Shukudai-kun shooting, after Aiba's third highly inappropriate grope sent the audience into joyful fits that Sho begins to think, wearily, that maybe he hadn't had cause to worry after all.

Mago Mago Arashi Rowing Club finale! Holy crap, I know this is going to make me cry. *wibbles and grabs box of Kleenex*
