it's been a good Friday for me! Today was Field Day and we went to a park (only the 2nd I've actually been to in Korea!) and played all sorts of fun games. I was on the Blue Team and we totally kicked the White Team's butt! A couple of 1st graders and myself teamed up and were awesome cheerleaders. My throat will be sore tomorrow!
After school I stopped by to pick up some poster board for a project I'll be doing with my 5th graders for the science fair next week (more on that later). I got some nice foam stuff and it's already blue so we won't have to paint it or anything. Awesome. Well it was so windy today that one of the boards got snapped in half. Bummer. I'm not too mad, because it was only 2,000 won, which is only, lemme check.... $1.79. So I'll just pick some up next week when it's not windy out!
I'm really excited about the project. It's going to be about clouds. I'm going to have to curtail myself and not go nuts and do it all for them (kinda like my dad always tried to do for me!). I bought glitter paint too for rain and lightning. It's gonna blow the other class projects out of the water! There's gonna be cotton ball clouds!!!!! I'm not sure if this is even a competition, but we're gonna win regardless :D
Well, we've been learning about all the different types of clouds (as you may have guessed). Today at the park there were some awesome poofy clouds and it even sprinkled a little bit (and the principal decided to take them home early, so when it immediately stopped all the kids were mad, lols, sorry, guys, life's not fair). The best part of teaching is when my kids run up to me, all exited, and point to the sky, saying, "Miss White, I think those are stratus clouds and the poofy ones are cumulus!"
BIG SMILE!!!! :D
This is why I've always loved elementary science! We get to learn about clouds, rocks, animals, planets, and all that good stuff before we got to cells and physics and I stopped liking science class in high school :( But now I get to teach about cool science!!
Segway.... things have been going a little better with my housemates recently. Mostly because they've wanted stuff, but hey, I'll take what I can get! Next week is going to be frantic, they're scheduling way too much at the end of the year, I have like 4 meetings next week. I hate meetings. Next week is SATs too. Hmmmm... I'm going to be the bored-out-of-her-mind-teacher-who-is-forced-to-read-those-long-and-awkward-directions. Sad.
Segway... I've just started watching the TV show Community... and it's awesome! It came on right after I left for Korea so I forgot about it. Last week my friend mentioned that it was good, and she's apparently right because I've caught up already! I'm a Annie/Jeff shipper already :) Lols, I have skills like that! I've been abandoning all my regular tv shows, so now I need to catch up on them too! And, I know that certain people might get upset............. but last week of Glee bored me to tears. I confess, I didn't know any of the songs (I think I've heard "Beautiful" before) and there was just a lot of sloooooow songs. That never-ending, awkward, are-they-going-to-sleep-together-or-not-and-don't-you-dare-forget-about-Emma duet with Will and Lemon Face bored me to tears. And the song at the pep rally? That is NOT a pep rally. Pep rallies make you feel better all by themselves because you get to scream yourself silly and be a part of a group (maybe I just had a really good high school). The end song, which I've forgotten already, I actually stopped watching it. Sadness. AND Kurt was a total jerk this episode. I cut Kurt a lot of slack, but he was horrid to his father this week. Seriously, Kurt do not try to get Finn as your roommate, it's only gonna be a whole lotta awkward, and he's not gonna fall in love with you. Don't try to change him, he's not trying to change you. There I've said my piece.
However, Kurt's dad and Finn were awesome together!! And I'm really starting to like Quinn. I guess after the Madonna episode things need to settle back down. (I especially liked in the "4 Minutes" number how Kurt wasn't singing in a falsetto! He's got a nice lower voice!!)
Wow! That was a lot about TV, you'd think I don't have any other life. But I do! I've finally started applying for teaching jobs next year. And I'm going to see Iron Man 2 tomorrow. "What?" you say, "Iron Man 2 isn't out yet!" Well, I hate to break it to you, but it's already out in Korea. IDK why. I'll tell if you if it's as awesome as the first one. Hopefully, Scarlett Johansson won't ruin it. I do NOT like her.
And I'm really loving
disneyverse I'm actually going to stay up past my bedtime and play bingo tonight. O wait, it's only in an hour, they must be doing it earlier. Rock on. Stay classy. GASP. Team classics - stay classy - "Stay classy, San Deigo" - Will Farrell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I say Team Classics has a new mascot. Imma go find some GIFs.
But first, recent stamps, before they pile up on me.
disney_outfits yep, I'd totally wear it
villainy_stamp - this is for my lair. It's close, I'd say, but none of the options really fit me, perfectly. I'd have to say that Syndrome's lair in a freaking volcano is probably my favorite villain lair of all time. If I had to chose.
disney_heroines meh. I think I might re-stamp for this one. One, my eyes are dark, hers are light brownish. Two, hers are round, and mine are more almond-shaped. (But not really, because almond-shaped implies Asian, and I just don't know a better word for what I mean. Oval?) Three, I don't actually have a three, but two reasons didn't seem like enough. I got a lot of Tiana & Jasmine votes too, either of those fit better methinks.
greekmyth_stamp Thebes, awesome. (I'm a little out of my element in this community, but my knowledge of Greek culture is limited. But I try.)
enchanted_stamp Fits :D
