Nicole and i went to see Neko Case at Amoeba in LA today and it was beyond words. we got there at 1pm and realized that we were WAY early, so went to Melrose and shopped, then came back at 4 and hung out at the store for a while, got our free signed poster and waited at the front of the line, right in front of the stage. we stood next to and talked with Lorrie and her husband who plays in a separate band with Jon Rauhouse, who plays the guitar/banjo/slide guitar in Neko's band. we waited there for two hours while the whole store got pretty crowded and just watched them play in amazement. Neko's voice is incredible, but in person it is insane. she gave me goosebumps several times throughout the set and the show just blew my mind. Nicole really wanted Neko to have the fox pin she painted, so by the end of the show, i grabbed it from her and told Jon that my friend Nicole had made it for Neko and that she really wanted Neko to have it and i asked if he would give it to her and he was really cool about it and took it. Nicole stood there clinging to the poster she was so nervous, it was hilarious. she looked like a little kid haha.
we had such a fabulous time and it was so random that we found out almost at the last minute about it. we would never have known, but it just worked out! ahhhhh, Neko.
