[Mitsuhide is playing his shamisen as he makes the voice post; it's a simple, gentle tune, and his own voice is just as gentle to match.]

So we were saved by the hands of a man on a stringed instrument... I cannot call that odd. I have been saved several times by a man playing his instrument, though in a very different manner, of course. [He ( Read more... )

Now that's an instrument I don't hear very often. Very nice playing, I might add.

I'm curious about your little mention of being saved by music; it sounds like quite the tale!

You are too kind. Thank you.

Something of one, perhaps? My Lord Motochika fights using a shamisen; he uses it as a blunt weapon, but also manipulates sound and water with it. We have fought together many times in the past, and he has saved and assisted me many times.

[Motochika? As in Chosokabe Motochika? ...and he uses it as a what D: ]

...That must be quite a hardy instrument. Surely such percussion would cause damage to its sound quality?

Oh, I didn't catch your name. It'd be a shame if I didn't find out the name of such a talented musician, hmm?

[BEST WEAPON EVER.]

Hardy does not do justice to it. It is the finest of instruments, the quality of its sound not affected at all. In the hands of its master, it makes only beautiful music.

My name is Akechi Mitsuhide. It is an honour.

[WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT TO AN INSTRUMENT OMG SOBBING FOREVER]

Then I hope to hear it for myself, one day.

Akechi Mitsuhide, is it? Interesting name. I suppose it's only fair I introduce myself. Yoshiya Kiryu, but you can call me Joshua. Please treat me well; I've only just arrived, after all.

[WHY WOULDN'T YOU DO THAT TO AN INSTRUMENT. 8|]

You most certainly will, even if only on the network. He is never without his shamisen.

Ah, interesting? Well, as you wish, then, Joshua. I would most certainly not treat you in any other way; we must all stick together here and help one another, after all.

[Because instruments are supposed to be treated with LOVE and CARE >8| ]

My, that sounds promising! I'll hold you do those words.

Is lack of peace usually a problem? It sounds like I juuust missed out on an awful lot of excitement.

[It's a very loved instrument, thank you very much! >8O]

It is often a problem, when the curses afflict us... or when certain things invade the city. That is what most recently happened.

Curses? That sounds quite dastardly.

You have no knowledge of them? My apologies, I should not have assumed.

Vatheon occasionally puts us under a curse, though curse is not always the most perfect name. The ways they affect us are wide and varied, and completely unpredictable. Sometimes they are horrific, sometimes mild, sometimes positive... and sometimes just strange.

You really should give more examples with your explanation, you know. How do you expect to clearly convey the nature of the curses with such broad and general descriptions to a new arrival? Really, horrific could mean anything from causing illness in people to exploding spontaneously.

I do apologise, but most believe that these curses can take literally any form, so the things you mentioned could happen, for all we know. I will certainly share some examples, but none has ever happened twice since I came here. Anything can happen, and I mean anything.

We have been invaded by 'zombie mermaids,' had all rumours come true no matter how ridiculous, had our thoughts shared with everyone around us through a 'thought bubble,' been turned into the opposite gender, experienced rains of rubber ducks, been followed by dark shadows, been followed by the ghosts of those we have lost, swapped bodies with other residents, had our powers changed, been invaded by vicious ghosts... and more. I can go on, if you wish.

Fascinating. It sounds like you have your hands full with these curses. It must be quite hard, never knowing if the next curse will bring up painful memories.
