God was looking out for me today...it felt good.
I woke up at a decent time (I HATE sleeping in late and missing the morning...i just feel groggy and out of it all day) and in a good mood. I finished the decorating, and headed out shopping. My dad's side of the family does secret santas, and i drew my aunt's name, so I set out to find a beret and matching scarf set, as that was one of the items on her list.
10 stores later, i still was having no luck finding any scarves for under $25, and any beret's for under $30, let alone any that matched! Finally, as i was getting ready to go back to the car, one last store name just popped into my head, and lo and behold, there was a beret for $8. Perfect. Then I had this brilliant idea that i could make a scarf. Do I know how to knit? No. Do I have yarn? No. Needles? No. But is that going to stop me? No.
I stopped at the craftstore and picked up yarn, and am attempting to to this using pencils...i was struggling, and then my grandmother called. "Grammy, do you have knitting needles?" "Yes, actually, tons of them...I'd love to help you learn!"
Perfect.
I talked to Xander for a good half hour this afternoon, which felt wonderful. We finalized plans for the LA excursion, found a hotel that didn't cost a million dollars, and have friends to sit with. Sure, his whole family invited themselves to the football game in SF (which probably means I can't go anymore), but for once I'm not ridiculously angry about it. I don't know why, I just kinda rolled my eyes and realized we'll work it out later.
Then at work tonight, I got to work with my three favorite co-workers, Araceli, Tery, and Theresa. Dan came in, which flipped me out, but he stayed in the back room the whole night, so all was well. Right as I was about to go, I was flipping through the "to be stocked" cart, and came across a cd by "FM Stereo". I glanced at the cover, and in the bottom corner it said "Recommended if you like MxPx and Relient K". Convenient. Two of my favorite bands ever. I bought it, popped it in my cd player, and immediately just felt happier.
THere's something incredibly satisfying about discovering new music. Normally I'm not impulsive like that, I won't buy a cd without downloading tracks first, but i'm glad i did.
Thanks, God. Today was good.
