➥ She happily thanks Mami once the witch is defeated before rushing to check on Homura, expressing clear relief how happy she is that the other girl was not harmed in any way.

➥ She again shows concern for Homura again, asking if that is anyone at her home that would be worried about where she was.

➥ At this point in the timeline, she's only been a Puella Magi for a week.

➥ Madoka admits that it's not safe battling Witches, and she does get scared but by defeating them she can save a lot of people. She believes that alone is worth the danger she has to face.

➥ She makes sure to warn Homura not to leave her house on a exceptionally stormy day, as its usually a sign of Walpurgisnacht appearing.

➥ Madoka apologizes for her use of magic on Homura earlier during gym class, telling her she thought she could cheer Homura up with magic... until it didn't go exactly as planned. Homura thanks Madoka following this and confusing the girl but Homura explains that although she did not know what to do when her legs wouldn't stop when she was able to do the high jump, she was truly happy.

➥ It is Madoka who suggests that Homura become a magical girl. Mami shoots down the idea quickly, saying a life such as theirs' is not something one should take on at a whim.

➥ On the walk home, Madoka apologizes about so carelessly suggesting that Homura make a contract. She explains that she understands what Homura had said earlier; about never feeling of any value, being of no use to anyone and continuing to live a worthless life as she felt that way for a long time too. But once she became a magical girl and began fighting witches though, she started to gain a little bit of self-confidence. She continues on saying although she makes many mistakes and causes trouble for Mami a lot, just the knowledge that she is helping others makes her very happy. She thought perhaps the same could happen for Homura if she became a Puella Magi too but agrees with what Mami said earlier that she should not become a Puella Magi on a whim. Instead if Homura were to truly consider becoming a Puella Magi, Madoka wants her to really think it through and crave her own path.

➥ Madoka admits to Homura that she became a Puella Magi in order to save Amy who had been run over by a car. She muses saying that Mami would scold her no matter how she told her for becoming a Puella Magi just to save a cat.

➥ She asks if anything were to happen to her for Homura to take care of Amy for her, stating that Mami was right when she said that they never know what might happen during a battle with a witch. She admits that it makes her uneasy but since Homura knows her secret, she feels like she can talk to her about it.

➦ Walpurgisnacht. Mami dies in battle and Homura begs Madoka to run away saying no one would blame her for doing so. Madoka says that's something she can't do because she is still a Puella Mai and she has to protect everyone as she is the only one left to fight again the witch. She says saving Homura that day and becoming her friends made her happy and she has no regrets having become a Puella Magi.

Turning away, she tells Homura goodbye and leaps into battle. Although Walpurgisnacht is defeated, Madoka dies.
