I'm listening to Red Hot Chili Peppers right now, so forgive me if I sound a little sluggish. Jazz Fest is coming back to New Orleans on May 2nd, and my sister is coming down to visit! This will be the 2nd person to visit me in (fabulous...) Plaquemine, LA. Honestly, I haven't had any decent human-to-human contact with anyone since Christmas, so it'll be nice to see my sister again. I just hope we don't get sick of each other and start bickering at each other like we usually do on long trips.
For those of you that don't know, Jazz Fest is an annual event in New Orleans that combines various genres of music together and holds a large, carnival venue concert. There are several genres of music that attend. You can get music from The Neville Brothers to the Dave Matthews Band (who, sadly, will not be attending Jazz Fest on Saturday). The event is open to the public, and tickets are readily available. It was extremely fun last year and I'm looking forward to another exciting Jazz Fest with my sister and my coworkers this year.
As to current events, I finished my first triathlon last week, 250m swim / 10m bike / 2.5m run. The course was extremely easy and I managed to finish 3rd in my age bracket. The best part was riding my bike with the seat all the way down because that part on my bike broke when I was loading my bike in the car--my legs still ache. I'm competing in another triathlon this week that is almost double the distance and overall is a harder course. Wish me luck!
Also, I'm still searching for a new job opportunity. DOW is still in "lockdown" mode because they don't have any expendable capital, even though the project I'm working on is leaking millions of dollars and no one apparently knows about it! Since I still have some time to search, I'm looking for places in California either near the Bay area or even Southern California. I could be coming back home guys!
Finally, I got stranded in Houston airport AGAIN. It was snowing in Oklahoma, and I had a layover in Houston to New Orleans. Snow delayed Oklahoma airport by 5 hours, and the Houston runway shut down around 11:00pm. Although airport terminals are not as comfortable as Motel 6, at least there are no roaches, and you can't beat free. I would only wish that their chairs didn't have armrests made of cold steel.
