Dance, dance, dance! Dance whenever you can

Life is pretty good, in general. (Despite the occasional stress-bursts of school, that is). On Saturday, I did nothing except chores and faulenzen. On Sunday, I went over to Sam's house, which brought me great pleasure and satisfaction. We watched An American in Paris which was quite an amusing musical, and I enjoyed it, until the end, in which Gene Kelly's character goes into this lengthy, strange dance sequence with absolutely no purpose except to distract from the sudden resolution of the plot. My favorite character in this movie was the sullen concert pianist, who spends the movie looking miserable and having amusing, if nonsensical, dream sequences. The music was Gershwin (which happens to be the music I am listening to currently). It's goodly stuff. So, good times were had by all. I enjoyed the movie and I enjoyed Sam's company. (Sam, in case you didn't know, is very good company). God, I love life! On Sunday, I was in incredibly good spirits despite the looming specter of my essay needing completion. I walked my dog while listening to music (Nat King Cole Trio, as it were. Yay for old jazz! ...I'm a nerd) and I couldn't help skipping and smiling excessively. I don't think my dog noticed. Afterwards, I went over to Tristan's house to take place in the Serenity RPG, where I got my first taste of role playing games. Hopefully I will get the hang of it soon. Today, I brought Sam flowers for no good reason (other than that it was our two month anniversary and I felt like being goofy). The result is that he became armed and could hit people over the head with flowers if the occasion arised. At brunch he approached me and assured me that the flowers (which were looking a bit worse for wear) were not a metaphor for our relationship. Thank goodness. After school, I went home and played Ella Fitzgerald (it's becoming an obsession now, I swear) on the stereo, since both my parents happened to be gone at work that day. And then, I attempted to tap dance while unloading the dishwasher. In hindsight, not the smartest thing I've ever done. But, no dishes were hurt in the process, and I had goofy fun, so no harm done. Yay for dancing like a fool! Yay for singing along with the music! Yay for annoying the crap out of my sister! :D

Drop that long face, come on, have your fling!
Why keep nursing the blues?
If you want this whole world on a string
put on your dancing shoes. Stop wasting time
Put on your dancing shoes; watch your spirits climb.
Shall we dance, or keep on moping?
Shall we dance and walk on air?
Shall we give in to despair?
Or shall we dance with never a care?
Life is short; we're growing older.
Don't you be an also-ran
You'd better dance, little lady, dance, little man.
Dance whenever you can!
Dance whenever you can.
