I've written some more in the script I've been working on.
Scene IV
The room is dark. Close up of alarm clock showing 5:59 in red digital numbers. Changes to 6:00. Alarm goes off (annoying beeping kind) and hand reaches out and presses button. Alarm is silenced. Lydia gets up out of bed; Bruce is still asleep. Lydia walks out of bedroom. Switch to scene of sunrise light on hill. Lydia’s face walks into the frame (sideways). Her eyes squint, as if she is looking into the distance. Close up of her eyes looking misty. Switch back to bedroom; Bruce is lying in an empty bed. He stirs, then gets up and walks over to mirror, resting his hands on the dresser and staring in the mirror. He turns away, then walks out of the frame. Shot of him jogging on the sidewalk in a gray morning. He looks rather winded, and he stops, bending over to catch his breath. He looks up. Camera angle switches to behind him, seeing this man standing on the curb ahead of him. The man is staring at Bruce with his hands in his pockets. Bruce just looks at him, surprised. Man doesn’t break unsettling stare. Bruce gets up and backs away slightly, then turns around and jogs slowly off. Switch back to view of man from farther away. Fade out.
Scene V
Bruce’s house. Bruce gets home from work again, Lydia is sitting reading a book. She looks up.
Lydia: How was your day? (pleasantly)
Bruce: Eh, it was the same. Nothing. Just…always the routine. Nothing interesting.
Lydia: Oh. (pauses) Today at work, I had an enlightening conversation with a coworker. (smiling slightly to herself, amused at the memory) I-
Bruce: (interrupting) I’m sorry, Lydia, but I’m really tired. Maybe you can tell me about it another time.
Lydia: Oh. Sure. (Bruce exits; Lydia looks back down on her book)
Here is one part of two scenes that I'm a little iffy about. Is it too cliche?
Scene V
...
Camera zooms out to show Lydia sitting in a dark room with only a small lamp illuminating her huddled figure. Music begins to play (Eva Cassidy-Kathy’s song)
{Kathy's Song:
I hear the drizzle of the rain
Like a memory it falls
Soft and warm continuing
Tapping on my roof and walls
My mind's distracted and confused
My thoughts are many miles away
They lie with you when you're asleep
Kiss you when you start the day
And as I watch the drops of rain
Weave their weary paths and die
I know that I am like the rain
There before the grace of you go I}
Scene VI
Music continues to play. Bruce is in his car; raindrops on the windshield, as if it is raining lightly or has just stopped raining. He is driving to work. Switch to scene of Lydia drawing with sunset in background. It’s a picture of wheat blowing on a hill. Fade to a dark room with an empty chair(same as one Lydia was sitting in). Fade to black. Song ends.
This one feels right, but then again, it also seems slightly too sappy.
