ATTN: JACK TERPSTRA OR DAVID LEGAULT

Where might one acquire some good running shoes (and what kinds are good?)?
And
What is the price range for said shoes?

**********

I'm going to TRY MY DAMNED HARDEST to train to do the half marathon....I wont be disappointed if I can't do it, only if I give up and stop trying. Anyway - that is all...

Striders on Chicago Drive is an awesome store. All of their employees are serious runners and know what they're talking about, it may be a good idea to ask them for advice on footwear.

David and i know what works best for us, but they can help you find what's best for you. By the time October 28th rolls around, you may want to get another pair, keep that in mind.

Godspeed!!

what do you think a good price range for shoes would be?

It varies so much, you'll probably be looking in the 70 to 100 range (depending on brand name/style).

you may want to see if you can find any of "last year's models" that they may still have in stock. They'll be cheaper and still just as good.

Sorry I haven't checked LJ in a while, but basically what Jack said.

If you're really looking to save money, you can try and find clearance shoes online (eastbay.com has a lot of stuff, and sometimes you'll find shoes in an ugly color or where they have only two or three sizes of a shoe left in stock and they'll be 30-40 dollars cheaper).

HOWEVER, the downside here is you don't get to try on said shoes before you buy them. If you go this route, I'd still go to a good store (like Striders) and try on a pair of shoes for every brand. Figure out what size Nike's you wear, for example, and then search for that size online to save yourself the hassle of returning them, shipping, etc.

hope this helps!
