I know, I know , you all miss me and woner why I havent written for two months...been busy, then had my heart broken again and so was depressed for a couple of weeks, then there was christmas, and the pile of read but not written about books just got higher and higher on my bedroom floor...

here are some of them:

1) All things wise and wonderful. james herriot. book three of the american editions of his books - which are more fictionalised than many imagine. some graphic descrioptions of the insides of animals not withstanding, very entertaining to read. I wish I could have been a vet,but i am too sqeuamish...

2) pratchett, moving pictures, surely written up before, TP's pastiche of hollywood in the discworld. not one of his absolute best, but definitely a good read.

3) Moorcock, Eric of Melnioboné, classic sword and sorcerey from a classic master. one of the groundbreaking and ground laying books of modern fantasy - also used as a source by a lot of heavy and metal bands. an albino prince of a cruel non human people trys to control his destiny. great stuff...

4)The woman in black, play edition. This was a popular play that I had wanted to check out, a ghost story, and told in a Brechtian alienation-effect (ie non naturalistic) way. Interesting read, but I think I need to see the play to get teh full effect. only two speaking parts - both male - and the woman in black...

5) Penguin cricketer's companion, ed by Alan Ross, a collection of poetry and prose from cricket history, both fiction and non fiction. in the second edition they cut the great matches section, unfortunatley, as it was my favourite. too much poetry but if you like cricket, search this out...

&) VMR theory. Frezza. the second book in his vampire-space-opera-comedy-pastice series...I think I have written this up before, very funny with bad puns....

7) Eric (not Faust) by terry pratchett...TP pastiches Faust and the illiad. again, second tier Terry, but still very good.

some e-books - more dorothy of oz books, surprisingly tense and exciting, really good, I love them, and The Prose Edda of Snorr Sturlsson, a dated translation from Guttenburg, intersting...

ok, let's see if I can avoid the person causing me heartbreak :(

merry new year to you all!
