Happy Independence Day, fellow Americans!

I decided to leave the alien fighting to the professionals, but I wore a red shirt today (haha, not dead yet!) and celebrated my freedom by eating much delicious grilled food and shortcake and reading Captain America #1 for the first time. *\o/* In Captain America #1, Steve is injected with the serum, becomes a supersoldier, smokes a pipe, and punches about 85 people in the face. It's pretty awesome. He also has a relationship with Bucky that is probably supposed to be all innocent but that reminds me strongly of Greek pederasty. Which partly explains why he pines away for Bucky for so long after being unfrozen, I guess. XD

(No, really. FOR EXAMPLE, when Bucky finds out that Steve is Cap, it's because he comes to Steve's tent after dark, while Steve is alone. FOR NO REASON THAT IS EXPLAINED IN CANON. I don't ship them in the slightest and can still draw some pretty strong conclusions from that. :P)

Also watched Eat, Pray, Love with my mom today. It was cute, if a bit long and a bit too navel-gazing for my taste. While watching it, though, I came to the conclusion that Javier Bardem is most definitely the love child of RDJ and JDM, so that distracted me for a lot of the last third. WHAT, LOOK AT HIM, HE SO IS.

Three things make a post, so I will post a picture of the books I recently bought:

Boooooooooks. EXCITED. :DDDDDDD I was talked into the McCaffrey books by several dragon lovers whose company I quite enjoy, and I'm SUPER psyched about the new edition of American Gods, which I adored when I read it in its originally published form last June. (Guys, guys. The cover has SILVER LIGHTNING on the front. It's super cool.)

ALSO. I have watched X-Men First Class, and it is FANTASTIC. CHARLES AND ERIK, SO TRAGIC IN EVERY WAAAAYYYYYY. I ship iiiiiiittttt, guys. Like a lot. I mean, I already did ship Professor X/Magneto, but now that we've seen what they could have been, it just makes it EVEN SADDER. ♥♥♥♥♥ Also, I've come to the conclusion that I probably would have gone with Magneto, despite knowing what he does later to achieve his ends. MUTANT AND PROUD, FUCK YEAH.

I also had a birthday last week, but as it made me feel old, I won't dwell on that. \o/ It was good, though, low-key. And, as a present to the world, I joined the HRC and the CBLDF. You're welcome, equal-rights-and-comics-loving people of the world!

I don't really know where this post is going, so I'll just end it by saying that my friends are awesome and tsukinofaerii is awesome and everyone should be groovy to each other. ♥
