Jared looks up from the newspaper to see Jensen entering the kitchen with a yawn, Sadie glued to his leg.
“Morning.”
“Hey you two.”
Jared doesn’t know what it is, and why, but his dogs - especially Sadie - are like obsessed with Jensen. Not that Jared can blame them or like he doesn’t understand why that is; he has the same tendencies sometimes. He’s just kind of amazed.
Because his dogs are shy. They’re big and strong, but only on the outside. They were both hurt in the past and they don’t trust people easily, no matter what treats they offer, but Jensen… Well, it was completely different with Jensen.
From the first moment, their first meeting, his dogs have both been in love with Jensen. And Jared was happy about that, because he needed them to get along well. Not only in case he needed Jensen to take care of them, but mostly because they were all sort of his, a part of his family, and he wanted his pack to be able to stay in the same room without serious injuries.
Now, Sadie’s like Jensen’s own shadow, following him wherever he moves, whether it’s the front yard and a mail box, or the bathroom. She pushes her nozzle into the shower, never mind she gets wet and smells like… a dog then. She sleeps in his bed, making Jensen grumpy, because she’s long and always shoves him to the very end of the mattress. When she needs to get some vaccine, Jensen must go with and hold her hand… paw.
So, yeah, Jared is happy that they like each other, but somehow, unreasonably, it also hurts a bit. It’s like his little girl has grown up and doesn’t need him anymore. Now he finally understands why his mom cried so much when he'd moved to L.A..
“She doesn’t like me,” Jared states, pointing towards Sadie’s chin resting on Jensen’s knee.
Jensen glances from the bowl of cereals in front of him, “What?”
“She’s got you now, and she doesn’t like me anymore.”
“That’s nonsense.”
“No, it’s not. It’s trufax. And you know it.”
“So what? You think I corrupted her or something?”
Jared never thought that, but it sounds almost logical now. Because it is kind of suspicious. “Did you?”
“Totally, man. I feed her sweets when you’re not looking, I give her your soft pillows when you’re gone so she doesn’t have to sleep on the ground… Because there’s nothing I want more than being kicked out of my own bed. Or chasing her when she steals my towel every time I get into the shower.” He pats her head and scratches her behind the ear. “She just knows I’m awesome… Ain’t that enough of a reason?”
He looks up at Jared with this pure, absolutely disarming smile and Jared sort of melts. He slides his gaze from Jensen’s sparkling eyes and pursed lips, over muscled arms and the hole in the fabric of his jeans, down to his bare foot propped up on the chair, and up again and smiles, “Yeah. Yeah, it is.”

awww, this was great! :) thanks so much for filling my prompt! I especially loved the image of her essentially kicking Jensen out of his bed; my cats (yes, cats can do it too) do it ALL THE TIME. XD

Cats, really? I have only one, he's eleven and pretty grumpy, so he doesn't exactly kicks me out of the bed, he just bites and fights. And my dog is small, so we're pretty fine there too. ;)

Cats, really? I have only one, he's eleven and pretty grumpy, so he doesn't exactly kicks me out of the bed, he just bites and fights. And my dog is small, so we're pretty fine there too. ;)
