YAY HI SO COOL!!

Your point about communal consciousness or fanon is a good one. Those of us engaged with each other through the web, whether in the context of fannish enterprises or not, are ENGAGED with each other. We take ideas and mull them over and spin them through our personal in-brain polisher and adopt them or reject them. And that's really cool.

One thing that I want to address (and will in my next vlog) is your point about the ownership (real or imagined) of content in the Web 2.0 model. Because I totally agree with you that it's completely awesome that ordinary people on the end of the internets or on their phones can create content that is meaningful. I think that's totally cool.

But so do corporations. Corporations are sort of aware of what's going on and, being corporations, their first thought is "How do we make money off of this?" And I have very complicated, weird feelings about that idea, which I will go into in a more in depth way tomorrow when I do the vlog.

I HAVE OTHER THOUGHTS ON THIS POST, BUT IT'S LATE AND I'M TIRED AND WORK SUCKS AND YOU ROCK AND GOOD NIGHT ILU!
