On women in SPN fandom, how they are awesome, and why I think we should do more with that

I took a challenge to write something about every woman who has appeared on Supernatural. I am on s3 right now. :)
It is pretty interesting and very different from the usual fic. I mean, I just wrote about the aftermath of "the Kids aren't Alright" and it was from Annette's pov. I know, you are like, WHO THE F IS ANNETTE? She's the mom of the little girl who was replaced by the Changeling. She's a fantastic character! Lisa Braeden comes over to see if she's okay. Dean is only lightly mentioned in the story...... When the fandom is driven by love for the guys, stories without the guys in them have little audience. But are still intensely fun to write.

I've been reading slash with a feminist theoretical eye for about 15 years now.... I don't think it is any MORE misogynistic than our culture.... but my conclusion has been that slash allows us to really sidestep the problem of misogyny by removing the representation of women from the equation. As you point out, fandom is ALMOST NEVER SATISFIED with women characters. It seems fair to have high expectations, but at the same time, can't we JUSTIFY FOR the women the same way we do about the men?
