Drawing to a close
SO LIKE, OKAY. I have been... not overly pleased with SGA this season, particularly the back half, for a number of reasons. But I just watched Vegas, and while I think the episode as a whole was charming and confusing, I can now die happy because John Sheppard is canonically gay. :D Well, into guys, at least, and Rodney implied it wasn't just that version of John--the relationship he had with that guy is something that happened to most of the versions of him that went to Afghanistan. I've thought John was gay since I started watching back in S3, so it's AWESOME to have that confirmation, especially in a way that doesn't demean him for it. Rodney's odd gentleness in that scene and some of the things he said--the "things don't work out like you plan" part, in particular--also made me think that John/Rodney might have been something once, at least in the version of them AU!Rodney saw.
That fits right in with my pet theory regarding my ship this season, which is that they've broken up, possibly between Prodigal and Remnants. That's late in the season, but the remote control cars in Prodigal make me not want to place it any earlier than that, and that date doesn't take into account them having problems before the actual split. It explains Jennifer, the lack of non-team scenes between them (hell, the lack of team scenes in general), John volunteering for the overnight mission in Remnants just so he can avoid being in Atlantis and sleeping in his empty bed... idk. Maybe I just like that idea better than, you know, total character assassination and being subjected to the creative team's masturbatory fantasies. >.< Because REALLY. I know I'm biased, but I think it's pretty hard to watch Doppelganger or pretty much all of season 3 without thinking there must be SOMETHING going on between John and Rodney, you know? ♥
But back to the point of this post? JOHN SHEPPARD LIKES GUYS. RODNEY SAID IT, THEREFORE IT IS SO. *_*
