firstly:

shameless plug for the community cues (the brainchild of the beautiful eudaimon ). if you love writing and enjoy the challenge of writing to a prompt (which changes weekly or at the mod's whim) then JOIN!... otherwise there are many gorgeous stories for your reading pleasure.

secondly:

at cues at the moment there is a month-long challenge called the 100 quotations challenge. I chose number 33 to write to, and got a gorgeous Lord Byron quote. So i didn't feel like a complete nob I went off to find a bit more about the man and his writing. So reading about him I came across a fan of his who was bemoaning the lack of quality poetry these days. I found this gorgeous :

"Most of life is detritus.  It has to be, and it's often enjoyable.  But there are moments when we need something beautiful and true and meaningful.  It could be a kiss from the love of your life, or watching the stars at 3 am, or walking around your neighborhood, or listening to your favorite song, or - perhaps - reading a poem.

A poem.  A genuine poem.  A work of art which takes you outside yourself and makes you think and feel in unexpected and magical ways."

mmm, just wonderful, and so true.
