my trip away
finally i shall post about our trip away a fortnight ago. i know i have been slack, i apologise i've been preoocupied :)
be warned. there are LOTS OF PICTURES. so it will be slow loading. i apologise.
so...
FRIDAY
dylan and i both worked until 10ish then dylan picked me up from work and we came back to my place to sleep.
i packed most of my stuff.
SATURDAY
set the alarm for 8.30 and got up. showered etc etc and i finished packing. chucked our suitcases in the car. mum told us to behave and we were off :D dylan wouldn't tell me where we were going and once we got on the freeway he would keep pulling into the left lane as if he was going to exit at the next off-ramp. but he didn't. we did exit at the surfers exit and went past where they hold Big Day Out. it was a great drive down, we chatted and played music really loudly and ate icecreams. going through surfers dylan showed me where Indy goes when its on, i hadn't realised before that they go through the streets down there (yes yes i know im slow... where else would they go?)
so dylan tells me that we are going to park the car coz we can't go to our hotel for a while. but of course he's tricking me again and we are there.
so where's there? i hear you ask... Legends Hotel. it is absolutely GORGEOUS! i feel spoilt already!

however a small glitch arises when dylan goes to check in. the guy who was in our room that night was apparently a complete pig, and they were trying to clean it for us. so dylan asked if we could park the car, which we did, and we went for a wander along cavill ave. it was about midday and we were hungry so we wandered into a food court and ate THE most delicious kebabs EVER. and im not exageratting. they were GREAT! and so begins our awesome food eating which was to last the whole trip!
then because i'd lost my bikini bottoms when i left them at the pool near my house we went and bought me a new bikini!!! it was so much fun... sooo many pretty bikinis! i eventually chose one (with the help of dylan, the attendent and the two women helping another girl pick a bikini too) (pictures below with hotel room photos). it is awesome. then dylan bought a sarong. an awesome black one (pictures also below). so we wandered around and walked down to the beach where the SeaFM (radio station) had their free-giveaway truck. so we got nudies (fruit drinks), i got salt and vinegar chips and we both got movie discount vouchers. then we walked down to the water (read: started walking then increasingly hop and run coz it was freaking hot!). the surf life savers junior surf comp (or something like that) was on and we watched for a while. but the surf was pretty shitty to be surfing. there was a chic out there with all the guys and she was doing well so i was cheering for her.
we walked along the beach away from them for a while then turned up towards the hotel. when we got back (1:30ish) the room STILL wasnt ready! *cries*. but dylan was being served (since we'd got there) by the head of Client Services so she was really sweet and dylan was telling her that he was taking me away for our anniversary and for valentines day (even though it was a week late) etc etc. and she gave us two complimentary drinks from the bar. so we sat with our drinks and read our books for an hour until she came over and said our room was ready. :D so we got in the lift and dylan was smiling this mischevious smile and he pushes 21! (There are only 22 floors and the 22nd floor is the penthouse ("Royal Suite"). so that was awesome. we had a gold card to open our door.

it was lovely to swim. except for these idiot guys who were splashing and swearing and everytime we moved away from them they moved too (not delibrately i don't think).
after that we went back to our room and lazed around. i lay on the deck and read my book and dylan went to the shops and bought chocolate biscuits and ice-cream. yum yum!

Saturday night we got dressed and went out for dinner. after wandering around finding somewhere we ended up at Hard Rock Cafe. which was heaps fun! we had the nicest waitress. she was really sweet. i had a cheeseburger (Really big) and dylan had a BLT i think. both had chips and salad. we both got fancy cocktails as well. i had a pink lemonade... vodka and grenadine and sweetand sour mix and lemonade and dylan had a long island ice-tea which had like 4 spirits in it with pepsi and stuff. he created The Amazing Dylan Straw so he didnt have to bend down to drink :D

after that we went back to our hotel and grooved around for a while. we had a spa and ate ice-cream with hot fudge! yum yum! but the mini-fridge wasnt very cold at all and it got decidedly melted.
SUNDAY
we woke up about 9ish and decided to go for a swim on the beach. so we organised ourselves and did just that. it was good fun but there was a scary rip. so after we had got a few mouthfulls of water, this one girl and i had crashed into each other about 3 times and we almost got run over by a boogieboard we left. back to the hotel and we got in the pool. at about 12 we realised we still hadnt eaten and we were STAVING! so we walked to cavill and had the most awesome seafood. dylan had calamari and chips and i had a 'fishermans basket' which had fish and calamari and prawns and crab. it was scrummy! after lunch/breakfast we went shopping and bought my headwrap, dylan's awesome necklace, earings for mum and a cool little saxaphone man made out of bolts and nails and stuff.
in the afernoon we had a nap! how much fun, we got to NAP! hehe. and read our books and then had a spa. we'd bought bubble bath, so when we turned on the jets (just a little) we got this really thick foam. so we made clothes out of it (naturally)

Sunday Night we went to Mini Golf! which was lots of fun. we did the Medium dificulty one first and i beat Dylan (only because he was cheating on the scoring so even when it took me more he only put 3 down).

then we did the HARD one outdoors which was a jungle one.
and I GOT A HOLE IN ONE! (then dylan also did on that hole... jsut coz he copied me hehe!) so that was exciting for both of us!

after golf we walked to an italian restaurant where again we had a really nice guy serve us. i had ravioli and dylan had lasagne. he asked how big the serves were and the guy suggested he get a small not a large. but when it came it was pretty tiny so the guy realised and gave us free salad and free another garlic bread :D so it was a good dinner.
after dinner we walked along the beach. which was really nice. the water felt cool on my feet.

when we got back to the room we had another spa. (make it worthwhile!) and then we found the bathrobes (i hadnt opened that cupboard when we arrived). so we thought we should wear them all night to make up for not having them all weekend.
MONDAY
we were going to get chocolate cake for dessert but it got to after 10pm before we realised so we couldnt get room service. so instead. as a surprise dylan ordered room service breakfast :D
so we got a continential breakfast with 3 pieces of toast, plate of fruit, juice, basket of muffins and danishes, yummy fruit yogurt and ce. i was gonig to make coffee to go with it, but the plugs didnt work so the kettle wouldnt turn on. when we asked at reception as we left the guy said it would have just been the surge protector or whatever that had kicked in and we should have just called down. but thats ok.

so after breakfast we had to pack *cries* and say goodbye to our awesome room with spa and balcony and king sized bed !
we checked-out and they hadnt charged us for the breakfast :D which was great.
so we put our stuff in the car and walked down to cavill again. it was about 11:30 so we looked for something to eat (yes yes i know we seemed to do nothing but eat and swim and spa) but it was great! we went to the coffee club and had chips and ice chocolates. yum yum.

we walked back to the hotel to leave. and in the pond was a mother duck with 7 babies! and they couldnt fly. she kept flying up to the ledge of the pool and they were all flapping but couldnt get up.

so we drove off and got on to the freeway again. the trip back always seems so much shorter. we stopped at the strawberry factory and had yummy icecream! and grumped about the kid torturing the chickens and goats in the petting yard.
we got home about 3.30. it was an AWESOME weekend! and it sucked to have to work the next day :(
