I dunno if I see getting involved in things in Sac as "giving in/ giving up" but more of "oh my god, I have to fucking occupy myself." Plus, you can always just quit when you have to move away. It's just something to do in the meantime. Applications do take up tons of time, but I don't see why you can't do both. You can't do EVERYTHING you'd want to get involved in, but you can certainly do something.

I was really annoyed with the "why won't anyone call me back?!" at about the 4 or 5 month mark out of school. I hated the world, I was not happy. Plus, I was not yet complacent about hating my job yet, and I wasn't happy. But after that minor "Everything in the world is bad" episode, I was able to be relatively content. "This is only for now. It is not the end of the world, it is not what I will be doing forever. The economy sucks, my field is in the shitter. Therefore, do what I have to do to get by" And I started doing things and I was much happier than I was when my sole focus was on getting a job.

Oh! That was my point! I just had to ramble to get it all into focus. OK. You will be happier if you do things and get involved in things because you won't be focusing on how much your life is not where you thought it would be/ not what you want it to be! Hah! Yes, that is my advice from a similar prospective.

ok, end.
