olivia concert ^,^

hihi. i haven't updated in a while but i feel like updating a bit again hehe (a long one heh). last weekend was halloween weekend and although i didn't celebrate halloween in the usual sense i went to an olivia concert with elaine. =) it's kinda funny cuz last halloween weekend julian and i went to a fall out boy concert and this halloween i went to another concert. olivia is an amazing jpop singer/songwriter who has a beautiful, emotional voice. ^.^ she did a few amazing songs for the anime nana (which i love love ^^) so she had a concert through pacific media expo, an asian entertainment convention.

elaine and i first met at the irvine spectrum saturday to shop, as we do best. XD i actually needed a few last minute pieces for my outfit that day because i decided to wear my very cute pink and brown pleated skirt but i wanted to wear a different top than my usual pink sweater top. so in my usual last minute shopping fashion, i found myself a cute poofy sleeved brown jacket that looked school girly enough hehe. ^^ and it was on sale too so woo! elaine bought lots of cute stuff too hehe. after shopping we both went in our separate cars and drove to the hilton at lax where the convention was being held. i was singing my heart out to olivia songs in the car and was very excited to go to the concert. we met up and got our badges and then walked around the exhibit hall and shopped some more. ^^ we each got some anime goodies and i also got my sweetie a tamama plushy and a big keroro plushy. =) those frogs are so darn cute hehe. oh at the con there were some really nice anime cosplayers and even more nice lolita cosplayers. =) the author and creator of kamikaze girls (the lolita novel and the lolita movie the novel was based on), the novala takemoto, was at pmx and there was an unbirthday party for him so there were many girls dressed up as lolitas at the con. =D they were soo cute! it made me even more determined to dress up as a lolita this coming con season hehe. ^,^ after walking around the hotel a bit, elaine and i walked to burger king cuz it was the closest food to the hotel and got some lunch and then went back to the hotel to wait in line for the concert. ^^

we ended up sitting next to this guy who cosplayed as wario at this past anime expo. i think i remember him and the other mario cosplayers because they were dancing goofily to a boom box haha. he was strange but had a lot of amusing things to talk about hehe. also there were these nice girls sitting next to us who were so excited to see olivia too. =) after waiting for a bit we all went into the concert room. even though we bought the cheapest tickets there were some empty seats on the far left (well left if you're facing the stage) and in the front so we hurried there and got great seats. =) we could see a lot from there hehe. the first band was uchu sentai noiz, a visual kei jrock band. we didn't know what to expect but they were pretty awesome. =) they were so crazy and fun and their costumes were so much fun and their music was great too. ^.^ they got the crowd really into it hehe. if they ever come back to california i'd like to see them again. =D the lead singer, angel-taka, was really funny hehe. the next band was very bleh in my opinion (and in many other peoples' opinions as we talked to them about it later) so i just kinda got sleepy and thought about seeing olivia.

then it was olivia's concert. first of all, i must note that i love wish, a song she did for nana, and i love the poofy lolita skirt that she dances around in in the pv of wish. to my happy surprise she came on stage wearing a lolita dress very similar to the one she wore in wish with that lolita poofy skirt i love! =) olivia is so amazing, emotional, and powerful live. her band was amazing as well. she has a powerful, beautiful, and emotional voice which is just so amazing. the thing that i don't like about pop sometimes is that the singers sing with so little emotion, so they're singing a sad song but in a happy pop way for example. but olivia is so emotional when she sings, so in her songs about pain and loneliness you can hear her voice aching, and in her songs where she's missing the one she loves you can hear the sadness. i completely respect and adore that in a singer, and this is why olivia is one of my favorites right now. ^.^ also the way she moves around stage is so sultry and yet totally like a rock star, so i think of her as a sultry lolita rock queen. =) she's really wonderful with angsty songs in which she's singing out her pain, she's really wonderful with the songs that she rocks out to and totally pulls the audience into, and she's also really wonderful with soft, slow, sad songs in which her beautiful voice shines through. i love her very much as you can tell. =)

i don't remember the exact song order but i shall recount it as much as i can. the first song she sang was "sea me," a song she did in english that i love from her the lost lolli album. it's really beautiful and has the really catchy and pretty line "kiss me forever". ^.^ it's definitely one of my faves from that album. next was "fake flowers," another of my favorites from the same album. it's a harder rock song that is really awesome and catchy too, especially the chorus. okay i'm not sure but i think the next one was the song that first made me fall in love with her music, "a little pain," the first nana ending. =) i definitely had a tear or two in my eye for this one. it's an incredibly sweet and sad song at the same time, and it's just so touching. i love the way she sweetly sings the line "i'm here waiting for you." it's mostly about someone waiting for the person they care about, but to me even though it's sad, it is a little hopeful too because they believe that they will be with that person again someday. sometimes when i miss julian a lot i listen to this song and it just makes me really happy. ^.^ the next couple of songs were slower as well, so i might be getting the order of them mixed up. then i think was another powerful slow song, "alone in our castle," which is another song i love from the lost lolli. she sang this song so powerfully that it really made me feel how sad and alone one could feel if they were left all alone in the happy memories without the person they care about, and it made be tearful just from feeling that for a few moments. the next one i think was a song on the "a little pain" single, the slow, sad, and touching "tears and rainbows" which is a song that, after hearing it live, i love it so much more. she sang it with such emotion once again that it really was so much more powerful live (although now that i've heard it live i really love just listening to it on the single hehe).

okay here is where i'm really getting mixed up. ^^; i hope i'm not missing any songs because i think i have most of them here. i know somewhere she sang the really catchy and awesome "spiderspins" (lost lolli mix) which is a great rock song that i love (one of my favorites from her album) and very fun to listen to live. she sang her other nana songs, first "starless night," an insert song in the nana anime that i love. this song is a slower song that is very sad and touching once again, and really showcases her beautiful, emotional voice. it also has the very sweet line, "you are my shining star," that i love hehe. next was "recorded butterfly," another insert song from the nana anime that is also beautiful. this song isn't a single yet, so it was a definite treat to us olivia and nana fans to be able to hear it live. she also did "celestial delinquent" which was a very mysterious and angsty song. then she did the song that i was waiting for the most, my favorite song of hers, the wonderful, emotional, and beautiful "wish," the 2nd opening for the nana anime. i love this song because it is very catchy pop rock, is incredibly emotional and sad, and is so beautiful overall. i love the powerful chorus, with the lovely line "baby, my wish on a wing" and just really everthing about this song. it was so incredible to hear her perform "wish" live and i was just so amazingly happy. the way she sings "do you feel me now?" in the climatic part of the song is so powerful and emotional that you can just hear the desperation in her voice. omg i love this song so much. =) olivia is so amazing. somewhere along the line she sang "blind unicorn" from her lost lolli album which has bits of a mysterious fairytale song mixed together with hard rock and overall is a cool song, especially live. she also sang the lustful and desperate rock song "under your waves" from the same album that was very powerful live. another great song. her encore song was "devils in me" from her the lost lolli album, and this is another great rock song with the very catchy and mischevious line "the devil is in me". =P it is a very catchy rock song and it was a great way to end the amazing concert.

the concert was sooo amazing. =) as people started to leave the announcer guy said there is a surprise so people should get seated again. a good amount of people left but many stayed. as it turns out olivia was being kind enough to stay after her concert and give out autographs. =) elaine and i were very happy because we weren't sure if we could go back to the con on sunday for the panel and chance to win tickets to an autograph signing. we waited excitedly in line for an hour or so, talking with some nice olivia fans in line. elaine and i each bought a beautiful olivia poster of her "a little pain" single in which she is wearing a beautiful lolitaish white dress with some pink layers and we bought the amazing "wish/starless night" single. =) thanks so much elaine for getting them for me. ^.^ so just don't get me anything for my birthday hehe. we waited nervously in line because we were afraid they'd call it off early, but apparently it was up to olivia to decide how long she'd stay. thankfully she stated for all of the people in line (we were towards the back because of our lower ticket standing) and we got our autographs! olivia is really cute and shy in person, which was a big contrast from the angsty, sultry lolita rock queen she is onstage. she was really sweet and said thank you so cutely! we got both of our merchandise signed and left the concert very happy and pumped. =) we went our separate ways and on the long drive home i sang my heart out to olivia songs (and to some hannah montana songs that i love hehe). now i'm incredibly pumped to cosplay as a lolita and to find sometime to sing my heart out like a rock star hehe. ^^ it was an amazing day and thank you elaine for sharing it with me! =) we must do awesome stuff like this more! hopefully there will be some more amazing guests to come and amazing concerts to see! ^.^

sunday morning i spent a very fun and sweet morning with my sweetie. =) we had breakfast together and went to the d and b's at irvine spectrum to play away the rest of his game card. ^.^ we got there a bit early so we just browsed the manga in the bookstore for a very long time and talked hehe. we also browsed through urban outfitters, which is always fun. we got to d and b's when it opened and played many games, including the fun shooting the targets game. my sweetie is very good at that shooting game and was very cool shooting all those targets. ^.^ but shh, he doesn't need to know that i said that. =P i had so much fun with him and can't wait to see him again.

well i had a great halloween weekend hehe. i hope you all did too. yay now i have a long journal entry i can keep to remind me of what a great time i had. =)
