This is for
notworthy (and hopefully
adecadeofbuffy since I... kind of defaulted on my prompt) for her birthday. I hope you had a great one, Jordy. Here's a baby ficlet.
Title: Twenty-six, and I've Grown Enough
A/N: For
notworthy. Semi-fluffy B/A. And, okay, I'm listening to Flower in Rain, and it's so fitting it's eerie, hence the title. ANYWAY. On with the ficlet.

There's a spot halfway between what's left of L.A. and the crater formerly known as Sunnydale where, on occasion, the world seems to fall away. It's nothing much to look at, just an old graveyard with a big elm in the middle, but it's got a history to them, and that makes it special.
She waits for him there, the first to arrive, and mentally goes back over the note she received nearly three months ago. March 10, 2007 -- our place, ten o'clock. It's cryptic, she knows, but she never doubted what he meant by it.
It's their anniversary. Not really, because they didn't start dating for a while, and who actually knows when they first got together. Their relationship was never that simple. But it's been exactly ten years since the day they met; well, more the day she met him.
So much time has passed since she's last seen him, she's starting to get nervous. He's still not here. The night air is crisp and cool as she sits under the overgrown tree, feeling as if her entire body is buzzing. A thousand 'what if's run through her head, all of them ending in this being a huge mistake. She shouldn't have come. Ten years is a long time, and...
And then he's there, standing in front of her, smiling.
And then the world seems to fall away.
