What not to do in the Army

Lynn's experience #3583

So, the schedule of the day is touring the medical library at the
hospital, and meeting and greeting the medical command at the school house,
afterward. My group went through the library tour second and was
finished at 0938 ( I looked at my watch ). We had to be back to the school
house (a few minutes away by car); seated to hear the Command Sergeant
Major speak to us. We get there late... of course the SM starts early. We
would have been there early, but a fellow soldier had to make an
appointment with Dental... I couldn't really avoid that situation cause I
needed the ride back. My NCOIC was furious. I don't blame him; after all I
showed up late for the in-briefing from the 3rd highest Sergeant Major
in the Army. Unfortunatly, I was stuck and could not avoid my
situation. The whole group of us that had the tour were slammed with three weeks
of Saturday school -- mowing grass, painting curbs, cutting shrubs,
(pretty much attaining the secondary MOS of Lawn and Sub-Urban Spe
cialist). With a good explanation to my NCOIC, somehow I got dismissed
from the group along with all but three other soldiers. I have no idea
how I managed to do that. I mean, I couldn't really avoid the
situation, but how I didn't get hit with Saturday school is beyond me... and I
honestly feel bad about it. I feel guilty that I am not going to be
there with the three others of us that were late for the briefing.
*sigh*... military is not easy.

What not to do in the Army...

Lynn's experience DA #3584

So I go to get reimbursed for the plane ticket that I bought so that I
could fly up to my next duty station. I paid $340 for my ticket
thinking they would pay it all back. Pfft. Not so much. They are giving me
$61.21 back for the ticket that I paid for. The Army is responsible for
getting me to Seattle, by however means possible. Those that said they
drove from San Antonio, got nearly $1000 for gas, food, lodging for the 5
days it should have taken them to drive. The didn't have to show one
damn receipt. I showed full documentation of my purchase to get me here,
and got paid not even 1/5 of what I should have gotten back for my
purchase. I should have let the Army just pay for my plane ticket directly,
which they could have done for me. Another slam against me. Bleh.
