this is probably premature elation

Earlier I was getting really frustrated trying to find any kind of genealogical stuff...that I didn't have to pay two arms and a leg for. Eventually, I somehow get to the Ellis Island Irish Immigration records. Oh, and it was a free database of some 22 million names from the 1840s to about 1940s. Very cool stuff.

End result, I found (hopefully) my great grandfather on one of the ship's original manifests.

Says he arrived October 7, 1915 at 22 years of age, single, Irish, and his occupation a "laborer." Five foot ten inches tall. Fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes. Final destination in Philedelphia.

All of that would match up to what I've been told. Tomorrow I'm calling my Mima to ask her my great grandma's name. She should be on the same ship...since that is how they ended up meeting.

I'm completely excited about the idea of him being the right person. They don't have the middle initials listed...but it's not like there were too many of them with our name anyway.

side note, anyone able to tell me how to pronounce "gaiscioch" in gaelic?
