My last few days in Japan have been a whirlwind of parties, packing, shipping, rearranging, cleaning, buying, and long goodbyes. I am really, really going to miss the people here. Maybe I won't miss Japan so much, but the friendships I've made here are what will make me want to come back.
Today I leave Asakura to spend my last night in Kochi in Sakawa. The new ALT there is letting me stay in the old apartment. I leave ridiculously early tomorrow morning in order to catch a 7:10 flight out of Kochi airport. A bunch of people including my old supervisor, Japan "mom", and a woman from my old eikaiwa class are seeing me off, which is just super sweet of them and makes me feel loved. From Kochi, I go to Tokyo where I spend the entire day before leaving out of Narita at 3:30 on the 26th. Wah!
I still have a lot of stuff to do. I have reference letters to gather from my supervisor and JTE, three more boxes to ship, and my bank account and cell phone to cancel. I'm a little low on money, so I really hope it doesn't cost much!
While NOT looking forward to the horrible 13-hour plane ride there, I can't wait to be home. I wish I was there now, hugging my sister and listening to my brother play guitar. But, hey, not long now!
I have to admit that I'm slightly nervous about going home too. I mean, how much have I changed? How much has home changed? They say you can never go home. I wonder how true that is.
Well, it's time to get going. So much to do today, so little time.
