A Surprise in Bed is Not as Good as it Sounds
I should be in bed right now. I am not. Why?
Because I'm currently afraid of it.
I'm afraid of it because just as I was settling in for the night and fluffing my pillows, a cockroach jumped out at me! I screamed, almost fell of the end of the bed, grabbed the nearest hard thing I could find (a hairbrush) and tensed for an epic battle.
But after several of the most terrifying milliseconds of my entire life waiting for the cockroach to make its move, I discovered that the roach wasn't moving. It was dead. In my bed.
After spending 10 minutes ripping the sheets and pillowcases off my bed and getting new blankets from the closet, I still have a few burning questions:
1. When did it crawl into my bed?
2. Where did it come from?
3. Why is it dead?
As horrifying as this all this is, maybe that last question scares me the most.
