Ann Conquers the Map

I'm at school right now, but I don't have any classes so I'm just sitting here looking pretty. I'm also finalizing my trip to Osaka with my friend Rachel. I panicked just a little last night when I realized that our trip was just 12 days away! But this morning I sat down with my guidebook and maps and hammered out the little details like getting from the airport to our hotel and from our hotel to all the places we want to go. I feel really confident about Osaka now. I even know exactly how to get from Osaka to Kyoto. Yay for me!

Now, if only I felt as good about Kyoto... But I'm going to buy a Kyoto travel magazine after work and study it like I did with the Osaka one and hopefully it won't be a big deal. The only thing about traveling in Kyoto is that the best way to travel the city is by bus, but the schedule is entirely in Japanese. That's why studying a Japanese city map is going to be very important.

This is kind of a big deal for me because it's the very first time I have planned a trip by myself, never mind if in Japan or not. I have searched for and booked hotels, planes, and buses. I have poured over transit maps and created itineraries. I'm really quite proud of myself, especially since I have always considered myself such a moron when it comes to maps and directions.

Once I get Kyoto down pat, I'm going to feel like the most amazing person who has ever lived. ;P

friends, yay, travel
