Sometimes a Gain is a Good Thing...

Jan 27, 2008 20:34

I had a fantastic day. Only two classes and then a taiko concert. And I got to play too! Go me!

Oh, and free curry is always good. Yum.

After work, I went out and secured several items so I don't have to leave the apartment at all tomorrow. I swear that I will clean this place down to a sheen by 3pm. I rented movies that I've already seen (Fantastic 4 2 and X-Men: The Last Stand) to amuse me while I clean.

hehe Clean, sheen, seen, clean. Look at me go!

Also, tomorrow is the start of a new eating-healthy campaign. From now on, it's only healthy food for me. I'm swearing off sweets, pastas, and bread for all days except Saturday where I can indulge in moderation. I've gained almost 35 pounds (yes, you read right) since I came to Japan and I am not a happy Ann. My self-esteem is starting to suffer because of this.

And now that I've been here six months, I've eaten most (if not all) of the foods that I wanted to try. I feel that I have satisfied my Japanese food goal. It's time to get back on track.

So feel free to share your favorite healthy recipes because I really don't have that many. Just remember that some things are difficult to find, especially "hippie foods" like wheat germ, granola, couscous, etc. However, yogurt and pretty much every kind of fruit and vegetable you can think of is a-plenty (but damn expensive. A single, smallish watermelon can cost you upwards of $25!)

So that's pretty much all that's going on right now. Right now I'm going to go tackle the dishes in the sink. Grrrr why did I let them pile up so much? This is going to take a while...

After that, though, I can reward myself with some Okami. I'm on the last level! Yes, after a year and a half, I'm almost done with the game! Yayz!

EDIT: I've just now taken advantage of LJ's mass security edit feature, so now all my entries between 2001 and 2003 have been turned to friends-only. However, I'm contemplating changing the status to private because I am so embarrassed by the way I acted back then. I was such a juvenile juvenile. Go figure.

japanese culture, boo, yay, health, ogawa
