Yay! It only took an hour and a half to catch up on the three-day backlog of posts, emails, comments, and phone calls. ;P
Yes, so now I'm back! I enjoyed Kochi City immensely this time around. I found a bunch of awesome shops, puzzled out the tram system, and learned a few very important landmarks.
Of course, this is all thanks to
nighstar, a fellow ALT who lives in the city and was so absolutely wonderful in showing me around. Thank you!
The conference was pretty good. It was certainly nice to see everyone again. I think I'm now a bit wiser to what is going on in the minds of my Japanese coworkers and students. I hope to use what I've learned and apply it to my daily life. I'm also really, really glad that I stayed in the city. I would've killed myself if I had to come in on that packed train one more time.
So what are my plans for the weekend? Well, I bought a used copy of Howl's Moving Castle which I plan on watching. I also want to get to the video store to rent a couple of movies. One of which I caught at the tail-end of in Osaka about a girl who came to modern-day Tokyo from nine years in the future through a washing machine. Obviously a kid's movie, but very humorous. I also thought the male lead was really, really cute in the uptight, untouchable sort of way. The other movie is that Gamera movie I ranted about before. I know it exists now because it was sitting right next the copy of Howl's Moving Castle. I think that was also a sign that I need to see this movie. Like, now.
And then I need to plan out what I'm going to make for lunch this week. If at all possible, I'd like to make my lunch for the week on Sunday. Last week I made chicken soup which was very successful, but I don't want the same thing again. I also want it to be healthy. Baaah. I have no idea. But I have another day to think about it, so yay.
I'm going to start working on my Osaka picture-post now. Hopefully I'll have that up tomorrow. Some of these pictures are just amazing.
So that's it. I'm back in Sakawa and I plan on remaining here for the next two weeks at least. I'm going to try to crawl back into a routine if at all possible.
On Monday, I'm turning in my recontacting papers. It's final: I'm staying another year. My reasons for staying outweigh my reasons for leaving by double.
But also on Monday, I'm going to talk to my supervisor about going home for about two weeks in the June. I wish it was noooow.
Hopefully this horrible homesickness'll pass soon. Sigh. It's funny how I talk about committing to another year when all I want to do right now is GO HOME. Just for a vacation, though. Just to see my family and friends and speak fluent English to everyone and know what the hell is going on for a few weeks.
June can't come soon enough.
